I had looked at the website of the Mercure on and off and the rooms looked quite nice and management emailed me back that oversite visitors were ok and there was no joiner fee so i thought there would be no harm booking here for a quick 3 day visit.

1 managed to get a suite for just under 2000 bt per night. I thought that was pretty good value when the website said it include wifi etc.

I was happy with the property and offered room. The suite was in a L shape and had a large balcony but I was unaware until the final morning that there was a fullsize swimming pool as my room was on the outerside of the hotel.

I bring a portable DVD player on each trip (bought a phillips player at BigC for 2500bt 1 year ago) and i had to display the subtitles as the hotel had preset the maximum volume at 50%.

Also the wifi was a joke. The frontdesk loaned u a highspeed modem thatb you plugged in to the telephone and laptop and hey spesto you have a connection. not quite the connection was up and down and the cost was 100bt for half hour or 180bt for 1 hour.

There has been a lot of talk about the location of the Mercure but they offer a 24/7 shuttle service to 2ND ROAD and there are plenty of motorcycle taxis to take you back so it really isnt any biggie compared to say the Residence Gardens as an example of location.
