Air Asia seems to be about the cheapest around for flights within the Kingdom of Thailand (ie: Chiang Mai or Udon)

But they impose a checked baggage weight limit of 15 kilos and charge 80 baht per kilo over that amount.

Take heed fellow travelers.

Think it all depends on just how much over the limit as I had travel with them several times last year ( and I know mine was over by about 2-3k) and I expected them to charge me but they never did, just put the luggage tags on and smiled. :clueless

Your right Phantom.......

During my bouncing around between BKK and up north with Air Asia, they "waived" my overweight bags twice, discounted the weight once and full popped me once.

So they do give some allowances and are not super strict on this at times.

Seems the BKK counter was the most lienient with Udon being the harshest.

I just wanted to alert other travelers about packing 40 kilo bags with Air Asia.

I flew Nok Air Bkk to Phuket & my bag was 24kgs (9kg over!) the man at checkout say in future i have to pay extra but he let me off this time. I went back with a TG however & our combined luggage was about 30kg so we had no problem. This was the only time ive been way over, although i have used Nok Air before & been at 19.5kg & got through. I think it depends on who checks you in & how they feel that day. I find a big smile may help. Was Considering trying Air Asia but as ive always been very happy with NOK decided to show some brand loyalty & their emails are rather neat.
