Air miles also depends on which class of ticket was purchased. "y" class =economy with no restrictions will get 100% miles but discounted fares often get no miles or discounted miles.

phantomtiger replied to teelack's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Where is the Jasmine located? -
I've also been there several times and my favorite is end of Oct-Nov

SOI L.K. METRO (CENTRAL PATTAYA)
phantomtiger replied to mulphy's topic in Bars/Gogos/Business Owners' Forum
I've stayed in this area in the past and in no way does it even come close to the Walking St atmosphere. The original post said this area could become the next big entertainment center--personally, I dont think so but only the future will tell when this projects finished. -
Think it all depends on just how much over the limit as I had travel with them several times last year ( and I know mine was over by about 2-3k) and I expected them to charge me but they never did, just put the luggage tags on and smiled.
-
Definitely after Christmas and New Years as more deals are offered after the peak holiday season--when they can charge you more than double at that time.

Brawl with a Bahtbus driver
phantomtiger replied to comingtopattaya's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
From what I read so far, I'm still not 100% certain what really happen, but the original poster said "he rang the buzzer for driver to stop"--this usually means it should have been the 10b bus and not a taxi? Have to admit for a newbie, he showed alot of restrain. Not sure if all of us would've gave up the full 100b though--its not the money(cheap) but the principle, especially after being hit. If poster was indeed correct and flagged a regular baht bus, then he was scammed and scams should be reported--IMO The main problems with the baht buses is not always knowing where they are actually going--without having to ask them and have been charged for this. I often go to Soi Buakou but whether I'm on Beach Rd , Walking St, South Patt Rd or 2nd Rd, there is no way to know if they turn onto Buakou without asking 1st--any ideas? -
I've walked the Beach RD at all hours of the nite and never had any problems except from the usual LB harrassment.

New Day-Nite Hotel
phantomtiger replied to phantomtiger's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Thanks for the feedback, guess I could scratch this place off my list. Always willing to try something new but not if its already getting bad reviews. Also, seems near more LB or boy/boy places but I'm strictly only into puyings PT -
I read somewhere a new hotel opened in Pattaya called "New Day- Nite Hotel". Can anyone care to comment on this place. Room conditions, bathrooms, pool?, room size etc. Also what is the location of this place--near any monger sites? And most important, guest friendly? PT

If you are going last 3 weeks in OCT.--it should be the end of the wet season and start of the dryer/less humid times. I was there exactly at that time last year and never had a drop of rain the entire week I was there. Also not as hot and quite comfortable. Best time of year to visit. PT

Nothing new, this occurs all the time with the internet and not limited to just travel services. Always best to be alert which is why I usually only stick to several travel sites I know to be legit. PT

Picoman, I believe there is an expensive China visa that you must obtain before you are even allowed to set foot in China-- for all US passports, but dont know about citizens from other countries. Wouldn't that even be more than what the HK govt will refund you for not being stamped

Cant understand the award list myself I chose: 1)Singapore 2)Cathay 3)JAL 4)Mayalsian Notice all are with asian stewardess as they are more open to service with a smile while alot of the non- asian stewardess gives you the WTF you want look. I am only referring to the service and not what drinks/foods are served as some other airlines do have better food--IMO PT
-
Airasia rates are great if booked way in advance (at least 3-4 months out) as the closer to flight date the rates are not cheap. For their service, lateness, small seats that only a small asian male can fit into--airasia is only good when their sales are on . Otherwise, better to book with another discount airline. PT

Bro, forget about some of those suggestions above as they are very outdated. The A train to the plane stopped years ago. and I also dont like taking the A train as it passes some of the worst neighborhood in NYC. Not the safest thing to do at nite. Penn station is underground (between 31-33 street) and it is huge maze, but dont worry, since 9-11, there are more cops down there then people so just ask. Also lots of signs so cant really get lost. 1)Cheapest option: (not the fastest) about 1 hour 20min From Penn Station: look for the E train subway on 8th ave/34th st ($2) and take this going toward Queens and get off at the Sutphin Blvd/JFK airport stop-next to last stop on the E train. Here, you will walk across the street and take the JFK sky train ($5) to the airport. 2)or from Penn Station: Take the LIRR to the Jamaica station in Queens (different name) but guess what--this is also the same stop on the E train (above--Sutphin Blvd). Here, same same--pay $5 extra and take same sky train to JFK. This option is little more expensive as its faster--fewer stops on the LIRR to same destination. Also LIRR prices vary depending on the time of day(rush hours--double price, off hours-half price).Total time here should be about 50min-1hr. Note: there are many LIRR train lines, so be sure to ask for one that stops at Jamaica, Queens station. 3)Taxi --most expensive( $25-35) depending on traffic- and time of day-could also take the longest time to get there. PT Hey, guess what?--helping bro Tengo is my 200th post

The trick is to keep ALL your boarding passes and tickets. Even if you are turned down, I never had a problem submitting all required records (ex Boarding passes) to your own airlines customer service to credit your milage. But must do so within a year (deadline). Note: dont always expect to get 100% mileage credit as the class of tickets you bought dictates how much mileage you are entitled to. ex: Y class=unrestricted economy fare gets 100% miles H/M/S class=and all super savers class may vary from 0 miles to 70% etc. 1st class=gets double miles on some airlines PT

Any word on if the prices will remain the same or will go up to cover the cost of the move and hopefully better renovations. Also, are they adding more rooms to the hotel?
-
Only ac for me. I like to turn it on during the day as the room gets too hot and muggy. At nite, I turn the ac down a few notches so its comfortable . This never worked for me anywhere in SEA with a fan as it tends to get too hot and sweaty for me (even at nite to sleep). With the ac, I could always control the environment in the room to my exact liking--cant do this with a fan. PT

Depends on how you look at it. If you are into the weather, then its great at that time. Lower humidity and temps and less chance of rain. If you are into saving money, then its the worst time of year as everything goes up. Last time I was there, price at my hotel was 2-3 times the regular cost. This is not an example as this actually happened to me last year. Arrived on Oct 30, price of my hotel room was 700b. Oct 31--price again 700b. Then on Nov 1--price went up to 1600b for the same room. Naturally I checked out right away. Also, at this time, almost all gals will try to get more from you. PT

thai italians fans shooting
phantomtiger replied to piero's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
As this seems like an unprovoked attack, I would say this looks more like a "hit" as somebody had it out for those 2 dead guys. But in LOS, story is not always what it may seem. -
Funny, the web link for Pattaya bus (last bus at 7pm) was updated Oct 31, 2005 and price from Mo chit was 67b???? I was there in Oct 2005 and price was never 67b. I paid about 110b.
-
Mo Chit bus stops running alot earlier than at Ekam. Last time I was there i think the last bus leaving Mo Ch. for Patts was around 7pm.

Last time I went to Patts and had a trad. thai massage, it was a terrible ripoff. I had Thai massage b/f in Bkk so I knew what it should feel like and the one in Patts really was more a rub down than a massage (real thai massage should have that near bone breaking experience). Also was charged about 400b for 90min. Anyone know of any real good Thai Massage places thats also cheaper on the wallet? remember getting real massage in BKK for 2 hours at about 250b (without tips thrown in yet). PT

New Hotel and New Beer Bar complex
phantomtiger replied to BillWilson's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Bier Garten is asking 1500b for ST? Did you ask just one gal or this is what every gals request and did they accept any of your counter offers for less?. This dont seem right as just late last year, most were willing to accept 500b ST and 1000LT after some negotiating. PT
