  1. Most consider this area "sleazy" only because they dont have all the fancy lighting and more upscale shops like on the busier roads. For now its still more where locals will go rather than the tourist and in a way, this is how I prefer it. PT
  2. Although no prejudice exist for Indians, they may give you the cold treatment if they think you are arab. Thias can't really tell india and arabs apart (and sure some of us cant either). Arabs (muslims) are not on their nice list as the on going civil unrest exist between buddist and muslims in South Thailand. So make sure you tell them you are NOT a muslim.
  3. Truth is Sgn sights are scatter thru the city (which is not that big to begin with)so booking hotel anywhere in the city is fine. The train/bus system is very good and not too expensive and this will take you anywhere in the city. So all you need to do is check on a hotel in your price range and just ask if it is near a train station or bus stop. PT
  4. The odds are you will probably die from HIV from unprotected sex in Pattaya than get stabbed or shot while visiting short time there (unless of course you are dumb enough to walk around showing a wad of money with 20 gold chains around your neck at 3am along the beach) PT
  5. Summer travel is always the highest prices no matter where you are travelling to. The airlines have figured out when kids are out of school (dont forget all them college kids 18-21) that are free of school that all want to travel alone or with friends, I notice most people forget about them and only remember (family with "kids")> This along with alot more people are on vacations schedules from work during summer months and its "peak" time for airlines. Sometimes its as much to travel summer as for Christmas. PT
  6. Bintin isle use to be good but its now a question of safety. Alot of muggings and robbery there the last time I was there so be very careful as this was happening during the DAY and not some dark alley at nite. Also, being a mostly Muslim population they are not very keen on Americans right now so best not to advertise that U are from USA. also Sing. people are exempt from an Indonesian entry fee but Americans are not. PT
  7. Just a question on why everyone no keen on the location of this place. just off of Walking St would seem ideal location, so is this a "bad neighborhood" that I'm not aware of?
  8. I've flown them once 2 years ago and found Malay air to be a good one. Not the best but better than all US airlines I've ever flown. PT
  9. I actually love the posting about the noise in Soi Buakow. Its quite quiet compare to rest of Patta., I guess some bros never stayed at places on 2nd rd or beach rd, compare to those, soi Buakow is like a church.
  10. Correct as this is now a world wide problem but more so in warmer 3rd world places as sanitation not as good and warmer weather causes them to breed more.
  11. This part of town generally more for the locals than the tourist. Heard (although Ive never seen) that this is where alot of BG rent their roomsfor sleep. No famous bars or disco in this area as its more "quiet" compare to beach, 2nd rd or walking st. ie:this area not as up scale as rest of Pattaya. Still, walking around will find some decent restaurants and regular bars, but not as much bars with gals action (ex: go-go etc.) Good place to relax without all the noise. PT
  12. Based on publish routes and number of buses running each route, should be about 15-20min wait for bus, but from my last visit (dec last year), I didnt even see a single bus go by as I was eating at an outdoor cafe along one of the routes---and I was sitting there about 45min PT
  13. Oh, dont forget future air prices will only go up as the price of jet fuel have double and tripled since last year. Just look at how much more you are paying for gas at the pump.
  14. Travel within US and flying out of US will be highest from May 30-Sept 5 (labor day weekend) as this is the prime travel summer season . Kids out of school, summer vacation for everyone, etc. Low prices during this time rare, except an occasional sale but dont count on this as these seats sell out within 24hrs of advertising. Best to reschedule after Sept., if not then must pay the higher cost. PT
  15. Agree with you bros, Its unfortunate but bed bugs are getting to be a BIG problem in SEA( all countries) Had problems with them in Kuala Lumpur (which is suppose to be a more modern and expensive city). No one at the hotels will ever admit to problem as this will advertise a loss of future business. Only bros with any knowledge of this will really know and should pass on info to others because if not, we will be the likely ones to infest other places when we book and also the potential of bringing these nasty bugs back home with us. So to all bros reading this thread, please post if experience bed bugs at other locations. PT
  16. Can't agree with x-change bahts at home now if planning on vacation in LOS later this year thinking the rates will continue downward. Reasons: 1) the exchange rate at your home country will suck to begin with 2)you will be left carrying alot of bahts around for nothing 3)if plans change and you cancel trip to LOS, then now you are really stuck with bahts at home and changing back to home currency will cost you another exhange fee. 4) best just to x-change when you get there and hope rates are better (higher). if not, then its just another extra cost for 4P4. (but still worth it). IMO only PT
  17. Cant make out on the bus map if they pass by the bus station that services the Pattaya to BKK route?
  18. Cant understand where these Beach Buses are suppose to go (what are the routes). I only heard of them but not actually seen them on my last visit. So how are they different from the 10b buses that travel everywhere in Pattaya?
  19. Bro Big DUSA I can understand the Cathay Pacific error price and U were lucky to book that, I know these are rare but happens, but was the NW to Sin also an error or this was regular company sales price BTW: whats the best way to catch these deals as I seem to only hear about them 6 months after its all over and also not having to spend every waking moment checking internet for changes in prices. Thanks
  20. Bro,I though early July generally is low season in LOS and high season starts after NOV-mid March. I've seen low season RT east coast-BKK as low as $850( when the sales are on) but average price are around $1100 even in low season and over $1300 in high. Note: the lower price flights ALWAYS include at least 1 and maybe 2 stop overs. I think your $1590 on Thai is higher than average cause they usually do charge more than others( talking normal prices and not company sales) and dont forget you generally also pay a bit more for the Non-stop flights. I think the only other one charging more without any discounts is Japan Airlines on a regular basis. At least these were the trends I saw when I did my checks for best prices to BKK. PT
  21. Just curious as to the cheapest RT flight anyone here ever paid for JFK (east coast only) to BKK and back( please include all taxes and fees into final price). Lets set time frame within the past 5 years. Seems only the real good deals are on the West coast? including package deals. The cheapest I ever saw was during the asian SAR / 9-11 disaster. As most flights were nearly empty, Saw some asian airlines advertising RT for under $600 (all taxes included)!!!!!! Too bad I was not able to get away at the time or wouldve jumped at that price. Anyone seen any prices lower than this? PT
  22. Actually, In addition to what price was agreed on, I only give a tip (based on service of course )before she leaves---so this should cover taxi money, food etc. PT
  23. The Honey hotel---hmm, if its the same one I visited once, the place is a dump. Tell your friends they could do better in that area.
  24. Hey bro mgc, Just wanted to know if your post was about eating the girl or the food for 200b --ha ha
  25. Sorry, correction. 10b/stick was the price as I now remember I had ordered 2 sticks and not 1. And it was during high season in Nov 2005 PT
