Not strictly relevant to Thailand but has anyone on the board first hand experience of Maxjet airlines as i'm flying to Vegas with them next month. They claim to be an all business class airline but prices are more like premium economy. They get mixed reports on some of the airline ranking sites

I've heard of them.

Supposed to be ok if you expect the right thing. It may be all business class but the seats are nothing like club world on BA for example.

The seats are more like somewhere in between Premium Economy and Business Class, or shorthall business class like BA's Club Europe.

I have flown them JFK-STN-JFK and think it's decent. They fly B767s with 102 seats. I think they go out with about 60-80 pax on them. They use lounges before flights. Seats are comfortable although not electrically controlled. They recline to 160 degrees (which I like as opposed being flat). No PTV but you do get a portable, on-demand player. The service is darn good, the food I thought was darn good. I even managed 2 desserts. I believe all their meals are 4-course on real china with real utensils with champagne and/or wine. Damn good value for the money. I wouldn't refer to it as premium economy at all.

Just returned from vegas so as promised my thoughts on Maxjet. They use fairly old 767's that have been refurbished on a budget. There are 102 old style leather seats in a 2-2-2 formation. The seat pitch is fantasic, easily better than many other business class airlines. The seat width is not long haul business class, i would compare it to premium economy on Virgin or the old Evergreen Deluxe. The onboard service was superb , the flight attendants were very friendly and enthusiastic although perhaps a little bit inexperienced. Outward and return flights left roughly on time and arrived around 30 mins behind schedule. i would use Maxjet again to New York or Vegas but take care if you use them to Washington as this route is often cancelled at short notice ( insufficeient passengers ? ).

To summarise i would say that Maxjet provide a very good premium economy service. Perfect for Leisure travellers with a bit of spare cash or business travellers on a budget. If your company has deep pockets then you wouldn't switch from Virgin / BA business class to Maxjet.
