Of course it is always a source of pride to be staying in Pattaya

But sometimes there’s the odd occasion when discretion seems like a good idea. Or is it just me? :bow

So will mail reach its destination if ‘Pattaya’ is left out of the address? For example, would this work as an address?

PS: It’s a fictitious address - don’t write to me there. I don’t live on Soi 6. Yet! :eyecrazy

Well I had something posted to me from the UK to here.

My address is Soi A.R., but the rest was pretty similar to what you've put, no mention of Pattaya.

It took a while to get here but made it never the less

I will be making the move to Jomtien this summer. Do you get a postoffice box, for your mail ?

How do you recieve your mail ? I know this is a dumb question, but I have always had the mail delivered to my home address. This will be my 1st time living out of country.

Thanks,

Well in my case, seeing as though the mail wasn't too important (christmas cards, without money enclosed!) I just gave the name of the condo and picked up the mail from reception.

For anything important, i'd use DHL or another 'trackable' carrier.

Whilst having a PO Box here is a pretty secure destination, a lot can happen before it actually gets there.

Up to now I've just used my apartment address, but with "Pattaya City" included in it.

I find Thai addresses very complicated. I live in a condo and not only have a room number (eg 1321), but an "official" number as well - something like 237/119.

But it seems to me that the official addresses for places in Pattaya don't have the word Pattaya in them. So (using a fictitious address):

132/57 Soi 13, Beach Road

Moo 10

Nongprue

Banglamung

Chonburi

20150

Thailand

would certainly find you. But you can leave out most of the crap and put:

132/57 Soi 13, Beach Road

Pattaya City

Chonburi

20150

Thailand

and that would find you as well. In fact all you need is the number, the soi number (and whether it's off Beach Road, 2nd Road etc) and the post code.

Hope this helps.

When I signed the lease for my condo, I asked the agents but the correct postal address.

It was 434/xxx Building A

View Talay 2 Condominium

Thappraya Road

Nongprue

Bamglmung

Chonburi 20150

Thailand

I tend now to combine the first two lines to 434/xxx View Talay 2A.

So long as you have Nongprue (sub-district) and Banglamung (district) in the address, Pattaya isn't required. Such are the vagaries of the Thai postal system.

I think the postcode is the clincher all over the world now.

At home we got a letter with just the house number, street and postcode- no town or county.

even addresses 'up country' have a postcode, perhaps that's how they get around the language barrier.
