i know this might be a bit out of place in here butt....

anybody stayed at Als Resort on samui

any info appreciated

Cheers

Resaurant is GREAT. Grounds are beautiful.

Pics of room and pool are deceiving. Pool is tiny. Rooms are small as well. My suggestion is to book it for a couple of nights and go out looking around at other places.

Motor bike rental out front is good...ask for Tiger.

I would not stay there, but there are worse places.

My suggestion... as you walk out of Als Hut to the main road, go right and walk a couple of blocks till you see a sign "Lucky Mother Guest House". Office is down the path at the beach restaurant. Bungalos are shit, however there are NEW rooms up by the road. Good AC, a locking drawer in the closet, fridge, nice balcony, etc. Don't pay more than 1500 per night (they may ask for more). Look at the rooms first and then bargain.

I was just in Samui this past February. Al's has 2 properties - Al's huts (about $32 a night) they are small bungalows but clean with very friendly staff and close to the night life (no pool - you can use Al's Resort pool). Al's Resort ($90 and up) is a more posh place with larger rooms, not a huge pool but very nice. No problem with the ladies and a nice beach bar area w/service. Depending on how long you are staying (I stayed 4 nights), I thought Al's Huts was a nice bargain - although I prefer Pattaya and Bangkok to psend my money - Samui is a nice break for some fun in the sun.

Al's Resort is situated on the beach, on the site of the former Royal Garden Beach.

Behind, on the Beach Road side is an underutilized market square. On the plus side there is a TOPS supermarket where you can buy fresh seafood at supermarket prices and have it cooked on an outside barbeque. They provide tables and music. 300 baht per kilogram of huge river prawns is usual. Restaurant prices are around 1400 baht per kilogram.

In addition there is Neptune's Gym replete with Sauna and Jacuzzi and varied restaurants and bakeries.
