United does direct flight to tpe from the us. If you use your frequent flyer miles to book it you can leave sfo at 13:19 fly to tpe catch a thai flight to bkk and get in at 22:20 that's one and 1/2 hours before the sfo-nrt-bkk flight arrive in bkk. often the flights are full sold out on usa-nrt-bkk. United will not route you thru tpe automatically becuase it does not show as a connection for them so you will have to ask. I booked a business class seat on short notice.

 

And there are still some biz seats for aug and sep.other routes to consider are seoul icn or shanghai. pvg or nagoya ngo. when mileage seat are all gone on the usa-nrt-bkk route there will often be plenty of seats on ngo or pvg or icn. if you can, try to get booked on aisana or singapore in biz class, very nice.
