Does anyone know if you can chose to have a Nationwide visa or maestro debit card? I know the visa card is widely accepted in Thailand but understand that in some Asian countries it's better to have the maestro version - if Nationwide do one.

My nationwide account only has a visa debit card so i dont think they do a maestro

looking at the visa rate for today its 71.04 baht to the pound using your nationwide debit card

http://corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_serv...HB&rate=0.0

and the xe.com rate for the same time was 66baht to the pound so thats shows a nice difference

between the two which i guess is due to the us dollar hitting 2.1 to the pound today.

No, Thailand has two exchange rates -

An external one which is quoted by ex.com and an internal one, which is the rate you will get if actually in Thailand or use your credit/cash card over here.

I will need to start thinking about transferring some more funds over at this rate of exchange. :drunk

Yes i know about that, what i meant was the fact it had risen from 63 to 66 external and up to 70(now

71.51 internal rate) as the baht used to be (maybe still is) tied in someway to the dollar.

Keep on going up, 41 days to go :D

A two week baht millionaire is on his way soon :P
