I understand that the new wing is now open.

Has anyone stayed there yet, or have any details of rates?

Wheels up in 20 days! :wtf

It's not a "new wing" they have two new hotels across the street from the Sportsman on Soi 13. 900 baht for standard room and both new AA hotels are just as much a dump as the hotel at the corner of Beach Road.

Ive just come back 2 days ago from staying at Whitehouse on soi 13 so i went to have a look at the new hotel over the road.

I was not that impressed with the rooms. The bedding looked old, proberly taken from the older hotel. Rooms seemed to have a musty smell about them. As said Standard was being offered at Bht 900 a night.

Im glad i stayed at the Whiehouse as room was superb for the Bht 1250 i paid. Put the AA hotel to shame for a few bhts more.

Still you might like the place, every person has there own view on whats good and bad for rooms.

Good luck

I think I'll stick to one of the other hotels on the soi for the first couple of nights, and have a look at a room myself. Old bedding and musty smelling sounds a bit grim for a place thats just opened!

Whitehouse is nice, it's just the temp variability of the water in the shower that turned me off the first time I stayed there.

Spud - Whitehouse has fixed the water temp issue. It's a great hotel, but a little on the pricey side.

Cheers zaphod, I might give them a try again for a few days. They had a good internet connection as well, last time I was there. Are they still saying no smoking in the rooms?

I never saw a no-smoking sign and my room came with an ashtray which housecleaning cleaned every day and was filled with my TG's cig butts. And I stayed there over 6 weeks, and it was never mentioned. There's balconies for smoking, but in all my time there, I was unaware of any no-smoking policy and my TG smoked inside the room.

They must have dropped it. There used to be a small sign in the room and the only ashtray was a small heavy brass thing out on the balcony. I must admit that the time I stayed there, I ignored it and smoked in the room. It's fair enough places being non smoking, but they should tell you things like that before you check in!

Hi Spud, Up to about a week ago there was a sign in my room at the Whitehouse saying NO SMOKING only on the Balcony. So i would guess thats still there. I dont smoke so that didnt bother me but im sure nipping to the Balcony for a smoke cant be to much hassle. I had a great shower with no water problems at all.

The only part about the hotel that i didnt like was they stopped serving the free Breakfast at 11am, then you had to pay the bht 95 for it. Needless to say i only made the free breaki about twice :allright
