Power and Water

Hi guys

 

Tripping to Los again in Oct and renting town house or condo for a month this time as it looks a better option some are inclusive of power and water, some it is an extra cost. Does anyone out there have any idea what these charge may come to. We are only to simple blokes playing golf during the day and out most of the night, I would hate the thought of getting a nasty surprise when we left it would really spoil what will be another great time.

The REAL charges are about 100-150 baht a day or a little more to run one "average" bedroom air con 24 hours, plus another 1,000 or 2,000 a month for all other electric stuff you find around a "normal" house. Naturally, your own mileage will vary according to the hundred variables from size of air-con to whether you turn the lights on and off a lot. But around 5,000 a month for electricity is fairly generous estimate for one person running no more than one air con at a time.

 

And around 100-150 a month for normal water use, a couple of showers a day.

 

What you might be charged is between you and the landlord of course.

I live in a 1 bedroom with TGF and my total average monthly charges for water and electric for the past year was about 1000 baht a month. I take numerous showers each day and the TGF cooks and does the dishes about twice a day, plus she does about 2 loads of wash every 3 days. Water is 25 baht a unit (don't know how much is a unit) and electric is 6 baht a unit. Some places will charge a little less or more than 6 baht. If you deal directly with the electric company then the charge is only 3.2 baht a unit. The hidden charges that you must consider is housekeeping unless you have a TGF or you don't mind doing it yourself. Even then you need to factor in the cost of toilet paper, the cost of buying cleaning supplies and the added cost of laundry services for your sheets and towels which you might have to purchase if the unit doesn't come with or has insufficient quantity. Also the cost of drinking water if the unit doesn't have a water prufication system installed unless you don't mind drinking tap water.
