Just a word Elk.

I may be stating the bleedin obvious but, I would get a visa arranged before lobbing out wedge on a cheap non refundable airline ticket.

If your lady is not coming for another 4 months, the visa can only start 8 weeks before travel. The reason probably being, that any bank statements etc you send as a sponsor, will be considered out of date after that time.

My lady went to the visa office in BKK today and was told about the rule. Once the visa is issued, travel must begin within 2 months.

Visa sorted, did it 2 weeks ago, valid from May 6th. so looking for her to come for 3 months end of May beginning of June, not many bargains about though

You have to have six months statements . as for Visa starting , You can get a mulit entry visa it will start from the day your Application is procest, And stamp put in your passport So in theory you could get one now and go in three four months, Stay four or five months then come Home as long as you do not stay longer than the year , dated stamped in your passport. As from Thailand you get a six months visa , you could do the same with shorter time limits as long as you are back in Thailand before the six month stamp, ends.
