Regarding Lotteries, in general, Please can anyone, enlighten me, which one of the many lotteries, offers the best odds, and how to enter , living as I do, here in Thailand. I am from the UK, but the Euro sounds interesting, apart from it saying, I have to live where I buy the ticket. All very confusing. Thank You. Don

You can play the UK and Euro lotteries online, but they log your ISP and won't payout if you win so you need someone back home to buy your tickets.

Don,

to add to Cheshire Tom's post. This is copy/pasted from the U.K National Lottery Website FAQ's

Can I play overseas?

Please remember, you need to be a resident of the UK or Isle of Man at all times when you play UK National Lottery games through your interactive account.

In countries outside of the UK and Isle of Man, local laws often prevent the sale or purchase of tickets for any overseas lottery. To protect players and the UK National Lottery, the National Lottery Rules and Terms and Conditions prohibit people from playing online in any country where it is unlawful to do so. This also means that, under local laws and the rules, we would not be able to pay out any prize in these circumstances.

We would therefore advise you only to buy your tickets online when you are actually located in the UK or the Isle of Man.

This also applies when playing by text.

N3RGT,

To be fair, the National Lottery people sent me an e-mail highlighting the rule when I first played online in LOS.

Absolutely Tom,

I was just adding grist to the mill with what I thought was relevant information. The only way around the "problem" would be for the OP to open a U.K bank account when they pay any winnings in automatically

What I find to be kind of amusing(or otherwise) is that you get sent an E Mail regarding any winnings which is headed "Exciting news about your Lottery Numbers Mr X".On going into the website it then tells you that the princely sum of £10 has been paid into your bank account ! Dooohhh I've never won any more than a tenner on my web standing order !

Thanks to those who responded. They get you every which way! tax, lousy exchange rates, and thinking of stopping pension payouts to non-residents! but I have my two pensions paid into a Lloyds/TSB A/C, and have a standing order for 9/10ths to be paid to the Bangkok Bank A/C, and my rent from my U.K house into another separate Lloyds A/C, then I have a third one for savings, and odd inputs, from my family, for future trips home. What I do think is rotten for us all, is no cost of living rises! Thanks All guys. Don

  • 2 weeks later...

It's another double rollover tomorrow on the UK Lottery. All those millions of people couldn't get 6 numbers twice in a row. Either we are all picking the same numbers, or less people are buying tickets.

£17,000,000-nice !
