Has anyone stayed at the new Sabai Empress at the top of Soi 1? I'm wondering how it is. The Sabai Lodge folks have sent me the rates and some photos but i'd like some first hand info.

The rooms look small and it appears there is no balcony.

I normally stay at Sabai Wing or Sabai Inn but i'm looking for a change but really like this area.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

LTC

We had a look round the place the other day and i wouldn't say the rooms were small because in all classes we could have an exta bed. The downside for me was that for the money they were asking when the 50% discount finishes was alot and the standard was a bit dark and just didn't feel that nice When you go to the next level of room that was very nice and a great size but you are right, no balconies in any rooms we saw.

If you are staying in the near future you should be aware that its not finished yet and they had none of their best rooms to show us and also no pool yet, but we were told that we could use sabai lodge or wings pools.

If it was me i would stop at sabai wing this time and go check it out for yourself.

Hope this helps

I called in for a look around and agree that the bigger corner room is very nice, has a large wall mounted tv but at 3350 baht is overpriced.

Large walk in showers in both rooms with a bath also in the bigger room. No dvd players in rooms and small fridges .......... very quiet in the rooms also despite overlooking second road .

They have a 3 month promotion on the smaller room of 1750 , normal rate for it is 2550 and if you stay a month it is 1500.

I walked past there plenty of times up to 12th March and it looked plenty short of ready. I've just got an email from them saying that deluxe empress rooms are 1250 a night May/June.

I would like to see pics of the rooms etc first but none seem to be available.

I will prob book elsewhere for my first week anyway and then go and take a look around the place, although with no balcony, the rooms would have to be pretty good for me to book as there are plenty of decent places with pool for around 1000 in that area at that time of year.

At least there will be no joiner fee with it being part of Sabai group.

Agoda has put up some good pictures here

I just got finished staying for 5 nights and the total came to 6,900TBH

I'd walked in and took one of the regular rooms. It was nice, nothing spectacular. Everything was new, clean.

All the employees were very nice (which they should be, but not always are)

Never had problems bringing girls

Food was decent

There's a huge tv downstairs for you football fans

Easy to catch a baht bus since a lot turn right there on soi2

Right across the street from BigC

My favorite though...free wifi (fast too)
