Problems Accessing Pattaya Talk

Recommended Posts

Here in LOS, Pattaya and TT&T MaxNet, having a terrible time getting in to the board.

Mozilla is often giving me a messege, 'Connection Interrupted', Page contains no data etc etc.

This went on for ages this morning, so I tried a proxy server (USA).

That got me in but it was slow and I couldn't post ...anything.

Reset my router and got in now ... slow...slow...slow...

I recall MM mentioning some issues, but I didn't grasp it.

This has been going on for over a week.

The boards new server?

Problems at Maxnet...

Problems at some pipe?

It's worse than when I used the GPRS connection......

I seem to be able to get European sites OK, Yahoo and all that!

Anybody can enlighten me?

jacko,

It appears to be an issue within Thailand. Don't know if it's a country or ISP issue though. I've been having the same problems and now have to access via a proxy.

As I said the proxy got me in, but was slow, full of extra adverts and I couldn't post anything, even edit an old post. Reset on my router seems to have sorted it, but still slow. :thumbup

I think Joe mentioned that a new provider will be coming on-line soon, True or not!. I also notice TOT and TTT are making some good offers lately, perhaps trying to lock you into their crappy service for a year...... rather than have you change ISP. I noticed the ADSL modulation type changed on my service not long back, now ADSL_2+. I had high hopes of a better service but alas.

Thanks for the feedback Tom!. :banghead

jacko,

Thanks for the bits of info.

I Have a feeling it must be an ISP issue because I'm having to access via proxy at the moment.

I'm using the crappy Hatari modem supplied by TT&T at the moment. I've got a feeling there may be some firmware "upgrade" or changes to the TT&T service that need addressing. Unfortunately, I'm a complete retard when it comes to all those different numbers you have to deal with in Preferences. I'll take my Linksys modem down the TT&T office later today and get them to reset for their service and see how it goes.

I was locked out of the PattayaTalk server for a day or so too. Had to use a proxy to find out that it was still up and people were posting.

If you can ping pattayatalk.com, then do the following command:

tracert pattayatalk.com

see where it dies or stops going to the next hop...in my case, it was a node in Singapore.

alternatively, try

tracert 64.38.29.162

which is the ip of the server.

It came back shortly after turning my ADSL modem off for a bit, then back on. I don't know if it was coincidence or not. TTT-MAXNET here, btw.

ping timed out.

tracet just get a load of 'request timed out' after mygateway. So no further than my front door?

Perhaps my router/modem blocks such commands?

(Surprising since I can now access Pataya Talk)

With tracert done just now, I got some timeouts, but then it kept going. Notice the hop from Singapore to Palo Alto (California). That is the one where it was dying before, but it's up now. For privacy reasons, I left out my first 5 hops from my router.

There is something wrong with the internet routing (somewhere). I'm stumped if the problem continues to persist, because it seems to affect some, and not others, using the same ISP (Maxnet).

Yeah ping doesn't seem to get past my modem/router as I tried to ping a few bangkok servers.

I switched off my router/modem firewall and got a bit further with a ping...

Reply from 209.58.96.109: TTL Expired in Transit.....

That IP says it is in Bogota, Colombia which has really confused me, and scared me a bit. Firewall back on!

jacko,

You lost me with ping, hops and nodes. Internet is either quick or slow. That's it as far as I'm concerned.

I still have to use a proxy for this site ...... but have no problem getting Nokair online.

Tom, the ping and tracert just try to find the route .... you open a command prompt or dos environment and give it a try. I am not using a proxy myself and able to work with pattayatalk now.

Don't go thinking of me as an expert, MM has a better idea by far!

jacko,

I'm on a Mac so I'm not even sure half of that applies to my machine.

I went down and seen the girls at TT&T, explained the problem and asked them to configure my Linksys, which they did. Everything is working fine now I've binned the Hatari moden thing, but I've no idea if it s coincidence, or what. At the shop they told me that they were aware of a problem with some link but, again, I've no idea if it was related.

Well, it's happening to me again!

Woke up today, and I can't get to pattayatalk from Thailand without using a foreign-based proxy.

A DOS tracert shows the packets bouncing around in Singapore again and then dying.

I'll take my own suggestion and reset my ADSL modem and router, click my heels 3 times....and will let you know what happens.

-------------- A FEW MINUTES LATER ---------------------

Wow, that worked!

I thought I suggested the ADSL router/modem reset in my first post! :D

I just has the same problem again, so I tried a couple of speedtests... I got really great resuilts (from LOS to both UK and West Coast USA) and most other sites were really fast. Pattayatalk just left me waiting,

A UK proxy server got me in but again I couldn't post, only read.

So the modem/router got reset, and I am in....

Back to the shitty speeds though.....

Edit Later...

My speed has picked up again...

Pretty good considering to UK at 9pm LOS!!

You may have (I don't have the time to check now..just came back from a bar crawl and TQ2's party), but I still don't see why that would make a difference. I am a bit superstitious too, and did it (prior to your post) as a last resort...and (coincidentally) it seemed to work. I used to work peripherally in the networking business, but this situation is way to complex for my limited knowledge.

That comment was a bit tongue-in-cheek MM, hitting the reset button or powering down was ''fix-it, step 1' in my old world too.:moon

It has worked a few times for me now. Other than getting a new IP address and refreshing the DNS I can't figure it. More essentially, why does it specifically affect your board, as I speedtest quite well to a server in the West Coast USA.

My old fault-finding mentality says we are looking at a couple of problems coming together. Maxnet seem to be up to something!

MM,

I'm in BKK at the moment but before I left Songkhla I had TT&T reconfigre my Linksys modem which allowed me access but I still couldn't get in on my Hatari modem (on original settings).

I'm a techie retard, so I have no idea whatsoever what the issue is/was ...........
