New phone line and broadband

Recommended Posts

Glad you asked. Opportunity to bitch.

It has turned to shit, and is frustrating particularly in the late afternoons and evenings.

Often just unuseable in the evening.

This has been going on for 3-4 weeks.

I have tried switching DNS but it is still bad.

My neighbours on Maxnet are also complaining, I was told by one they were expanding the network locally.

There may also be some filtering/ logging being implemented.

When I visited the office, I got the standard crap response. They take your number for a tech to call you back....which NEVER happens!

I spoke to a guy at one of the local unis last week about the issue. He said that the international service had been restricted in order to try and force heavy international Voip or P2P users to change over from the indy package to a premium package. I think it coincided with TT&T hiving off the internet side as a separate business - is it called 3B or something now?

Better, I didn't say great!

That sort of thing has to be done at 5-7am!

The fact that I can post is an improvement on the last 2 nights at 6-7pm

The whole sad thing is the duopoly of TOT and CAT defending their sorrier and sorrier axxes and everyone pays the price. For the Internet, CAT has the only legal gateway and thus 100% of the bandwidth, and a sorry amount it is. They lovingly and graciously dole it out to private companies, and then skim those companies' profits, literally skim. The Internet is a fairly small part of the whole shebang, which revolves around phones, mobile and fixed. "Concessions" aka skimming is the only way the duopoly lives.

It's true that parents Jasmine International took the profitable bits away from their bankrupt child TT&T, but I don't believe for a millisecond that has anything to do with the actual service. It's a financial conspiracy thing, one set of rich guys and their lawyers screwing another set of the same. In this case, as in many, it's leapfrog and everyone does get a turn at assuming the positions of straddler and straddlee.
