I've been going to Patts for years but have not thought about this before. Is all TV in Patts pushed out through cable or satellite, or is it possible to get TV reception through an aerial?

The question has arisen as I was just speaking to a girl who has moved rooms. She had TV in her old room but not in the new one. Is fixing it a simple matter of buying a TV or does the room have to be cabled?

Thailand has five main national TV stations that broadcast terrestially, and three of them seem to have good reception in Pattaya with an aerial. There are three or four UHF stations, I'm not sure how good an aerial you'd need for them. A TV set with an aerial in Pattaya is going to pick up four, five stations okay.

All options are available...

An ariel picks up a couple of channels good, and a few others reasonable. But I am talking of an ariel up high, not one of those set top things.

Cable in Pattaya is mainly Sophon, 60 channels, lots of English and all the Thai channels. Costs 3000 pa and these guys seem to be able to get a cable in to you anyplace in town. But you might want to check on others around the place, anybody else got it, you can get it.

A satellite dish is also used with 'True', a bit expensive as it is for the Premiership nuts!

An ariel off a balcony is normally the way to go.

Yeah, sorry, when you wrote "aerial" it never occurred to me you meant a coathanger. "Rabbit ears" are decidedly un-good in Pattaya.

A TV aerial will cost about 700 to 1,200 baht installed properly on the roof - or DIY on the balcony as jacko says.
