Dude your phone, if set up for international roaming would probably work fine there, however the cost would be extortionate, like a pound a minute, every call would be an international call. and if anybody in the UK were to phone you, you would also pick up the excess cost of their call above the standard rate. Text messaging, I don't know about charges but should also work. How long are you there for?

when you arrive go to any phone shop buy a 1-2-call sim card (800 bt i think) including minutes, if i doesnt accept it the shop will chip your phone so it does (100 bt).

then just buy top up cards 300,500bt

if anyone rings your UK number you foot the bill for the international call and texts, i think orange is 80p per minute for thailand.

All good info but....I think you was asking about the charger unit....

Firstly, yours will work...use standard UK-thai plug adaptor ,works fine... think we`re 240v they`re 220v near enough for it to work. Well did on my nokia and sony eric t610. My TG uses my UK charger to charge hers as well.

If you don`t have a charger they are really cheap! about 200 baht big c upstairs, some less on market....for common makes like nokia etc...

hope this helps...

RD ;)

My issue is a little different from this thread, but I will try anyway.

I have an Ericsson 2218 (Cingular). I think it is dual band, but I am not sure. Does anyone know, or can tell me where to find out, if it will work in Thailand with the appropriate SIM card (if I buy one there)?

Thanks.

It will work.

If you have problems Go to the 4th Floor MBK in BKK and get it unlocked

You can get the electrical adapter in the Airport before you leave. It works as we bought one for our phones and they are fine though you might have to bend the contacts on the adapter inwards a little
