I don't know if anyone has run accross this, but I'm having trouble calling a cell phone in Thailand from the U.S.

I have four phone cards. One of them works so I know the number is correct. I don't want to use this card because I get only 12 minutes for $10.

The other three cards give me about 60 minutes for $10, but when I call the number the cell phone just rings and rings on my end. On my girlfriends phone it rings when I call, but when she picks up she hears nothing. I let the phone ring 10-15 times and get nothing and she says she picks up on the third ring.  I've tried calling on the three cards about 20 times total over 3 days so I don't think it's a fluke.

Her number is one of the new 011-66-6-###-#### numbers as apposed to the 011-66-9- or 011-66-1- numbers.

Has anyone had this problem?  The only thing I can think is to buy her a new cell phone, but I want to make sure a new phone won't have this problem as well.

 Anyone have any ideas?

 Thanks in advance.

???  it may be the cell phone or you are limited to land line on your card.  my thia gril has same number and i can not call on my cell.  land line works but cost is hi. i use computer to call and works great. is her cell 1,2 call or is it orange service.  it will make a difference  when you call.  i use pc phone by paltalk at .16  us a minute.  hope this helps. in los 7 months :'(

Find out which cell phone service she is on, this makes a difference as some are not contracted with certain calling card from what i have been told. Also if you want to send a sms from and do not have a gsm phone you can do so at cardboardfish.com if she uses AIS. The cost is around 12 Pounds or 18 U.S. for 300 messages and youget confirmation of delivery. I haven't seen anything for Orange or DTAC but haven't looked either. Hope this helps a bit. Cheers, B-Man!

For anybody from the US/Canada/Australia, goto http://www.tollthai.com, they have good deals on calling cards to Thailand, around 18 cents a minute to a mobile phone anywhere in Thailand from the US...  I use it religiously and have never had any problems...  Real easy to recharge your card either over the phone or via the internet...

Cheers

Thanks for the info on TollThai. It works perfect. I really appreciate the help. I'm not sure why three cards don't work at all, one card costs almost $1 / minute, while this one can give me 18 cents a minute.  Now all I have to do is figure out what to do with the $50 in calling time I have on the other cards.  Maybe I can call 1-900 numbers in Bangladesh or something.

 Thanks again.
