looking to rent a condo/apartment for 1 month - long term- internet/visa questions

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

New to the forum...I've been to Pattaya several times and did a search in this forum but didn't find exactly what i'm looking for. I apologize in advance for my ignorance in these areas.

I have been to Pattaya 2-3x and know what to expect as far as day to day life, etc.

I'm looking to come to Pattaya for 1 month and would love to stay up to a year if I find the right price and a place that allows me to work from home on occasional consulting gigs.

I also like to play cards online in my spare time.

The following are my needs. Any help guiding me the right way, advice etc is really appreciated.

Budget - 15,000 -20,000 baht/month rent ideally (maybe a little more for the right place) for studio/1br beginning sometime late summer (i'm flexible on dates)

internet - must be secure and 3mb to 6mb and reliable. Is this possible? What are the best locations/condos/providers to seek out

I found the dancewatchers.com site and they have some great units but limited availability and a few units are a bit too pricey for me.

A view, location, jacuzzi tub are nice to have but not really required. Not picky on Jomtien vs Pattaya, etc.

questions:

1. Are there websites I can check for condo listings for stuff available?

2. What internet service is best?

3. As far as visa concerns, is it better to make visa runs or to try to perhaps get a student visa for longer stay. I think it would be interesting to take thai lessons and wouldn't mind investing the 1k or whatever for a year of classes.

4. Any other things to consider? Warnings etc?

thanks to all, really appreciate your advice

Mike

Hi, take a look at The View by matrix development pattaya, this great new building will open its doors late July

, I have a 1bed room condo there for long term rental, this is 45sqm, the other 2 units I have there are already pre booked.as are most other condos there I'm told by other owners. Internet will be land line with fast connection from tot with wifi box...this condo will come as matrix web site pictures, fully loaded, 3rd floor mountain view..I'm only after long term good tenants. Situated just 3mins form cosy beach and situated close to walking street, rooftop pool, juzzsie gym, sauna and resturant, maid service and laundry, top place to be , I'll rent cheap at 22k per month, agents are already asking 30 plus for places in this exciting new building..As far as you visa question, the education 1 is the way to go, I had it before and fond it a most enjoyable time, beats them old visa runs, and gives you a real insight of Thai culture and how the people think

hi mike

saw your posting...

have a look on my website...

if you are interested in a studio for a year contract, i would put in 4mb adsl internet...

Wongamat is a really nice part of pattaya, but only a few mins away from the action, as and when you want to dip your toe in....

if you are going to live here long term, you need to think carefully where you want to be.

regards

tommy
