Wiggly you need to be a bit more specific, is this a family holiday as your bringing the missus along, any kids?, if so you need a family hotel out of town like the Cholchan resort in northern Pattaya or somewhere in the south like  Jomtien, if not then try the FLIPPER LODGE in soi 8 as its right in the thick of it and across the road from PTY beach, have a good time anyhow.
