Is this the same hotel as the former Westin Grande?  Also, does anyone know if it's guest friendly?

Posted

ed,

The Westin is the old Pan Pacific at Soi 19.  The Sheraton Grande is almost directly opposite.  The Sheraton Grande is guest friendly and is home to Riva's nightclub, the favoured haunt of many higher class tarts.

Thanks, guys!

Biddingfortravel listed them both as coming up priceline, along with the JW Marriott, and with the similarity in the names, wondered if they were the same.

I ended up bidding for 2 nights, $56/night, and got the JW. Not bad for Bangkok, given that Majestic is 1500bht/night for a double, so nearly $40

In Rivas how much do the girls charge ST, LT? Also how much for drinks?

TIA

Gus,

Prices are 4/5 star hotel prices (180 Baht upwards).

Most of the girls will start at around 4k LT but the price will depend on how you handle the situation.  If price is an issue it is probably not the best place around.  On the plus side the girls tend to be better looking and better dressed than, say, Soi 7 Biergarten.

Tom,

Thanks for the info, price is not a major problem, I was just interested in what the "better" girls charged. I think I may stay at Amari Boulevard but not yet decided as I am not going until january.

Gus,

I don't think the Amari Boulevard is guest friendly.  You'd be better off over the road at the Landmark if you are looking to take a girl in tow to the hotel.

Someone posted that as long as you book a double at the Amari you should be OK, also when checking in if you ask reception for a green coloured key tag that shows night security that you are OK to bring back TG.

I believe it is 'up to you' if you make your TG leave her ID at reception.

I stand corrected if this is not the case.

Gus,

My apologies if my post was misleading - it was based on my experience in a double at the Amari Orchid Lodge i.e. TGs were OK if registered (accompanied you at check-in) and I assumed this was the case across the group.  Other than that, the hotel is in a great location for nightlife, shopping and, most importantly, the skytrain.

Tom,

I am not sure 100% about the Boulevard as I have not yet stopped there. I'll try and locate the forum piece where I read about the hotel being GF.

The hotels I am considering are Amari Boulevard, Landmark,JW M, Majestic,Sheraton Grande and maybe a couple of others.

I don't really want to pay 5,000thb pn so that kinda rules out a couple, then it must be girl friendly and there are usually two opinions with these hotels, some Bros say they've never had problems and others say Hotel wasn't GF to them.

I am sure wherever I stay the staff will understand my needs, if not it's pack your bags time and find somewhere else.

The most important thing to me is that I find the right place in Lamai, KS where I'll be staying for a week.
