O visa to retirement.

I entered Thailand on 8th of Sept.on the last of my O visa.Which meant my 90 days was up on the 6th Dec.Ihave since obtained a retirement extension commencing 6th of Dec.

 

MY question is,when do i do my first vist to immigration to report my place of residence.Is it 90 days after coming into Thailand or 90 days after the start of my retirement extension?

Your 90 address check is not on the same date as your visa. They now have a new system that there will be a paper attached to a page on your passport telling you the date of your next address check. That slip of paper will have a bar code that is read by their computer. I would suspect that your address check will be 90 days from when you entered Thailand.

That is correct. The 90 day clock starts ticking from the day you entered Thailand.

Passport is not stamped but you may be liable for a fine when you next go to immigration

 

I did forget to report one time and was about 2 weeks past my 90 day reporting day when I passed through immigration in BKK without any mention of it.

Being late for a 90 day check in will cost you a 2,000 baht fine at immigration.

Is there a certain number of days before the 90-day period that you can check in? It seems reasonable to have a range of time to check in rather than expect people to appear precisely at the 90th day date.

15 days before and 7 days after the due date is the "window" for doing a 90 day report.

Tom beat me to it. They may have changed the 7 days after so it wouldn't hurt to check to make sure they still allow the 7 days grace.

They still allow the 7 days at my local immigration - however, as with all things immigration, I'd confirm any procedures with my local office. For example, the date of the first application for extension of stay counts as a 90 day report at my local office. It's only entries into LOS subsequent to the first extension that count as 90 day reports (and reset the countdown clock).

Ah,if this is the case,my first application for extension was granted 18th Nov.So i should be

doing my first address report 90 days from then?

 

Can anyone confirm this is the case for Pattaya immigration.

I just got an extension in November, but still have to do my 90 day report in December, since I last arrived in Thailand in September. I asked about it specifically and they said I had to do the report based on my entry date.

That would obviously be subsequent to your first extension.

As most expats have experienced, every immigration office has its own rules and are apt to change the rules as they go along. In fact the rules may vary at the same office depending on the immigration officer who waits on you. Always remember that the officer is always right and never makes mistakes. Don't make the mistake of telling them that they are wrong. I once made that mistake.

This morning i was out for a walk and found myself close to imm. office,so i called in and asked

the imm. police officer on the desk by the door,told him what ive told you guys.He looks a little puzzled,then replied,you should have a small slip in my passport that tells me my date to report.He didnt seem to be able to tell me posstively either.

 

So i get back in my condo and give my passport a thorough search,i eventually find the slip of paper hidden between a reciept,which tells me that my next date to report is 16th Feb.which is 90 days after the extension was granted.So it looks like ive had the same thing Cheshire Tom suggested ie when i got my extension that is counted as day 1.
