Hopefully I will be over again early May for 3 months.

I have planned to rent a studio condo or apartment in either South or Central Pattaya and to this end I have been checking the classifieds in the Pattaya Mail.

There seems to be a few around ranging from 8000-14000 Baht per month. Centre Condotel, Nirun Grand Ville and Yensabi are a few mentioned. Have any members gone down this track and please pass on any advice or pitfalls that may occur.

Thanks

John

In these days, I saw some condos, RG (30k-), Sunshine Vista(21k -), Pinewood Condo(19k-).

There is "One Mansion"  in Soi 3 about 100m from the second road, in front of Sun shine Vista.  So location is convenient.   It is old, but not so bad.

Only a shower, no bath tub, hot water, refrige, satellite TV, dd phone=internet OK, parking, security.

The monthly rate is 10k.

I'm checking into the Yensabai on the 10th and will be there until 6 May. I'm paying 400 per night. I'll give you a heads up on this place ;D ;D ;D

Thanks all for the replies.

BigDUSA, If I stay at Yensabi it will be the day after you leave and chances are I may have your room so purely in the interests of your family and friends health feel free to leave any SARS infected US$100 notes you have left over under the bed and I will dispose of them free of charge.

John,

I liked the reference to cheap charley not buy me Saigon tea. Takes me back 30 years to when I was stationed in Saigon and heard that refrain more then once. ;D

I'll post my thoughts on the condo when I'm in Pattaya. If I don't like it I will move to the Flipper Lodge. Rental agent told me, apartment has in room safe.  4 days until show time.

Might be best to stay in a hotel while you inspect the condos.  Unlike hotels, condo apartments are all furnished differently.  Sometimes that is very good, sometimes not so good.  Furnishings reflect the taste (?) as well as the finances of the owner.  Yes, great deals can be had, but look before you commit!

landa2a,

I've never done the condo before, but I've heard some you'll be charged additional for electricity and water.  Also you will not get daily maid service unless you are willing to pay additional.  Also be sure to factor in location when you do your cost analysis or in the long run you could wind up paying more when you factor in baht bus/taxi fares unless you are planning to rent a car/motorbike.  You are going to be there during low season and with the SARS scare it will be even slower.  Recently more hotels have been opened and they should really be hungry to fill their rooms and I would think you could get an excellent deal.  I saw  monthly rates last month for the Siam Sawasdee Hotel for 9000/11000.
