Pattaya Centre Hotel Questions.

What is the Pattaya Centre Hotel like?  Are they friendly to guests?  Maybe get some good points bad points from people who stayed there.  I tried to book the RG but they were full so this looked to be a decent place.

Alot of Chinese tour groups seem to like this place. They always have the big tourist busses parked near the hotel. Probably why it is hard to book. I heard that prices have greatly increased since 2 years ago. I paid about 600 Baht then. Probably can't get special internet rate anymore via guy named Graham. The upper rooms have great view of sea. Takes about 10-15 minute walk to walking street. Of course can use Baht bus. If you like a view, how about Yensabai? Specials about 499 Baht. I am going to try it out next trip.

Stayed there last year and can confirm that the hotel is guest friendly.

But as Dave said, the hotel is packed with Chinese grous and that can be a pain in the ass when you`re trying to get into the elivator.... With one elivator working and you`ve got 50 people standing in line.

The rooms are HUGE and have a great view, but it seems like they have jacked up the prices big time since I`ve stayed there.

I paid about 1100 for a super deluxe or something and was a great value for money then, but not so great now considering the price jump.

T-Rex,

I've never stayed at the hotel but looking at the website the rooms and suites are pretty impressive (1195 Baht for a suite seems pretty good value for money to me).  It is one of the very few hotels in Pattaya I've come across that actually has a stated guest policy so you can be in no doubt where you stand on that score:

Have a good trip!

I stayed at the Pattaya Centre Hotel last May (2002).  I had never stayed there before.  I did some research and the reviews were so-so.  I had read that it went through recent ownership or management change and the rooms were remodelled.  Since I thought there might have been some positive changes and I liked its location, I decided to give it a try.  Instead of booking through their Internet site, I e-mailed them to ask for a better rate.  They responded with the following rates: Standard Room 942 baht; Superior Room 1,060 baht; Junior Suite 1,295 baht; and Panorama Suite 1,648 baht.  These rates do NOT include breakfast which is included in their Internet rates.  I thought their breakfast buffet was real bad so not getting a complimentary breakfast was no big deal.

The Panorama Suite is large and it includes a balcony that overlooks the ocean. My room had NOT undergone any remodel. I was disappointed with its appearance. The room looked a bit worn.

Since the Panorama Suites face the ocean, the winds really whip against the building. It woke me up a couple of times during the night when I thought the balcony sliding glass door was going to bust open from all the shaking by the wind.

Since I was paying for one of their best rooms, you would have thought that the TV would have had a remote control. I inquired at the front desk and I was told that some rooms have TV remotes and others didn't. Mine didn't and there was nothing that they could do about it. I didn't argue since they had a very poor selection of English language channels (two that I could find). The hotel must use a satellite since the reception was terrible. Every four minutes or less, the TV would have nothing but static for five to ten seconds.

One of the biggest gripes about this hotel from others was that the hotel staff was surly. I've got to echo those same comments. The front desk, however, is no more or less friendly than those at the Nana Hotel in Bangkok.

There was one thing that really pissed me off about my hotel room. . . the uneven floor in the bathroom. There was a 1 1/2 inch step in the middle of the bathroom floor. I think they put in the 1 1/2 inch step to contain any overflow of water from the shower or toilet, but I was constantly stubbing my toe or stumbling over it. It was a real hazard for me during the middle of night when I had to piss.

This hotel does cater to tour groups from China. The tour groups are their "bread and butter" since it guarantees occupancy so the hotel has no real incentive to improve. I also noticed groups of Germans (at least when they spoke it sounded German to me), Arabs, Hindus, and Vietnamese staying here. It seems most were families and not the usual single men.

There are a few positive things about the hotel:

It is guest friendly with no extra charge for an overnight guest, but they do check ID.

Nice swimming pool.

Close to Walking Street.

In conclusion, I wouldn't stay there again. In hindsight, I should have checked out after the first night and checked in at the Eastiny Inn. For the lower price and better kept rooms, the Eastiny Inn is a much better deal although the noise from the beer bars can get annoying.

I have considered this hotel many times when I come to Pattaya, due to it's "central" location between Walking St. and Soi 7/8.  However, each time I have chosen the Welcome Plaza instead.  It's right near Walking St. /Pattayaland 2 /RG mall.  It has clean rooms, great pool, excellent location, and only 650 baht.  In my opinion, the best value in town.  Although, I'm tempted to check out the Res. Gardens to see if it is worth twice the price.

Each time I've walked in to the WP - so if you decide to dump Pattaya centre, have no fear - there are better spots out there.

Well, I hate to sound negative but I have to put in my two baht in regards to the Centre hotel.

While it was'nt expensive...well as the saying goes: you get what you pay for.

I stayed there last month and the place was quite run down. The carpets were rediculously stained, there were no reading lamps and the TV got about 3 channels..I can't recall any in english.

The staff was pretty cool...a real looker at the front desk and a very fun maid (8th floor) that enjoyed a little grab ass.;)

They were infact guest friendly..but they charged us for them...I think like 400 bt.

The location was good with a daytime agogo on the corner. It was obvious this was once a decent place. I cannot say I hated my stay...I did'nt need to read and did'nt need the tele soI was alright.

I would not stay there again though, if presented with another option (we had no reservations and were dog-tired after Viet nam and BKK).

I would say my room was worth about 800 bt. No more.

Stayed the last 3 times in Pattaya Centre Hotel..

It's a huge hotel and mainly caters Chinese tourists

which come and go by many tourbuses every day..

The hotel is guestfriendly.. Only will ask for the ID-card

which well be kept untill the girl "checks out". No extra

charge or other problems.. Never got any problems

with the staff.. Friendly and smiling.. Especially as they

start to know you better.

The hotel is nice situated as Mike's Department Store

and Royal Garden Mall are just about 10 minutes walk.

Walking Street is a nice 15 minutes stroll on Beach-Rd.

Great to walk near the beach in the evening !

As for the rooms, it's a bit worn-out sometimes..

But okay.. Very huge and spacy.. Especially the

(junior) suites which have stunning views over the

ocean.. Look at their website for special discounts..

Try not to get a room at the end of the corridor as

you will get crazy from the house-maids phone ringing

all the time (starting in the very early morning:((..

Resuming: the place is okay and guestfriendly..

But you pay for its location... As I am sure there are

better deals for cheaper prices ;)
