Stayed in Janruary 3 to 11 2003.  I've always stayed at Flipper lodge before which is a good hotel. The Sunshine hotel is very poor, very very poor. more so for the price you pay. You look out your window into another room, food is no good. The only good point (for some people) is no id check.

thaidane,

I agree, price seems high for that time of year and length of stay.  I only stayed at the Sunshine 1 time and they put me in the old part of the hotel and the room was crap. ( I've heard the new wing is good)  I went next door to the Eastiny Place and was able to get a much better room for less.  Went back and checked out without even sleeping there.  If you can't get a place at either one of the Flippers, try one of the Eastiny's or the new little hotel the Bella Vista.

thaidane, I have only stayed at the Eastiny Place Hotel of the ones in the soi 8 area. You can get the Eastiny Place for 200 to 300 baht a day less than what the Sunshine quoted you during May-June. The rooms at the Eastiny Place were very clean, and there's no problem bringing a guest back with you. They took the girls I.D's and held them until she left, but a word to the desk if you don't like that would probably result in them handling guests however you asked them to....the staff was very friendly. This was a year and a half ago, however. You can inquire via email to the manager, Mark, at eastiny@ptty.loxinfo.co.th   He also manages the other hotel, the Eastiny Inn, further down Soi 8 that is closer to Beach Road and right in the middle of the beer bars. I liked Eastiny Place's location better, very close to Second Road and not surrounded by the beer bars. Eastiny Place has a very nice pool on the 4th (?) floor as well.
