For those living in the States, TG is reducing flights to/from LAX from the current 7 to 4.  I didn't see a start date, but think it's in the neighborhood of late-March.  Seems they were losing money so decided to cut back.

Also, if you're on a 744 or 743 (I guess anywhere but mostly Oz and Europe), TG is going to a "premium" economy section.  It's not all it pretends to be!  TG is presently installing new first and business seating.  Beginning 28 March, the first class section will become business (sorry, no Dom and caviar), the business will become "premium" economy, and the back of the bus is still the back of the bus.  This will last until all aircraft have their new seats.

Speaking of new seats, the first section will get the 180 degree sleeper seats, business will get 170 degree sleeper seats, and I have no idea what economy will get.  They are also getting a new IFE system with personal screens at each seat.  I guess you'll just have to look for info on the TG website in the next couple of months.

I read about this somewhere and I think it's a really positive move as far as I'm concerned, so long as they keep their prices competative.  I've always considered the crap inflight entertainment (non-existent on my last flight) and more recently the always full flights to be the only things that made me reluctant to fly them from LHR to BKK.  I read somewhere that they expect to install personal IFE on all their 747's by the end of 2004, so hopefully it's not gonna be a long wait.  I could definately put up with full flights if I had lots of movies and games to keep me occupied.  On the downside I think they will reduce legroom in economy if they are gonna install personal IFE but lets hope they are not daft and reduce it to less than 32".

I've read they are going to start JFK to BKK non stop. If I remember correctly they are waiting on new long range Airbus.

I've read the same thing but now can't find it!  Anyways, they're planning to fly non-stop to O'Hare, JFK, and LAX when they get their new Airbus aircraft in conjunction with the new BKK airport.
