Cathay Pacific deal of the month is BKK ...again?

Recommended Posts

Basically, just didn't change from last month.   $599 from SFO or LAX -- $653.30 with all taxes, from SFO.

For what it's worth, about $50 better than the best fare I'm seeing on Orbitz right now for the days of my trip ($703 out of SFO on Mar 19-30) but not as good as the prior United sale on the same dates. YMMV, but since I get the email notices from Cathay, I figured I'd post here.

aniteowl,

From the link that pat provided you can go to their homepage and registar to be a cyber traveler and they will email you with their specials.  From the west coast you will leave around midnight and arrive in Bangkok shortly before noon and in time to take the Thai Limo shuttle to Pattaya for only 200 baht if you want to save a few baht.

I had heard lots of good things about Cathay Pacific so I booked with them in April of 2002. Vancouver-Hong Kong-Bangkok. Economy class. They were in such a rush to get us on the plane and off the ground they did not take enough time to properly clean and empty the septic tanks from the toilets in Economy Class. Result = 1 out of 6 toilets that worked for a long 13 hour flight. Worse was that they refused to allow cattle car class passengers to go forward and use the Biz or 1st class latrines.

Line-ups to use the toilet were over 1 hour long. Ridiculous. I wouldn't fly them again but others have had superb service. My bad luck I guess.

Deal of the month gets no frequent flyer miles. I'm get double miles on United. I pay for two and the third one is free. Last price I paid was around $751. Philly to BKK.

Actually, if you're willing to go for Asia Miles as opposed to AAdvantage, you can get miles on Deal of the Month.

Still, not as good as doubled miles on UA, though I stopped flying United because of the bad service when I was flying Boston to SFO regularly for work years ago and I've seen no reason to go back.

Big D,

What's the trick to getting double miles with United.  I'm aware that I'll get them once I fly 50K with them in a calender year for the balance of that year and through the end of Feb the following year, but it sounds like you get them all the time.

I usally come to Thailand 3 to 5 times a year. No problems making 50k per year except for my sore ass and after I get here, sore dick.
