Air Asia is based out of Kuala Lumpur. They fly only 737-300's.

AirAsia operates a single type of aircraft, the Boeing 737-300, regarded as the workhorse of the industry. The 737 is the best selling commercial jet of all time, made popular because of its efficiency and cost effectiveness. By building up a uniform fleet, AirAsia is able to keep fares low, as costs for spares and training are reduced.

Plane Truth

Boeing 737 - 300

Capacity 148 passengers (seated in one class)

Engine CFM56 - 3 series; 22,000 lbs thrust

Cruise Speed 495 mph - 792 kph - 0.785 mach

Max Altitude  35,000 ft (10, 668 m)

Range 2,595 mi (4, 175 km)

Wingspan 94 ft 9 in (28.9 m)

Length 109 ft 7 in (33.4 m)

Tail Height  36 ft 6 in (11.1 m)

Flight crew 2 flight crew, 3 cabin crew

During an average year, a typical Boeing 737-300:

Flew 1.85 million nautical miles (2.7 million km) - enough to circle the globe 86 times

Flew 3,600 hours

Burned 2.88 million US gallons (10.9 million litres) of jet fuel

Changed 60 tyres

Changed 12 sets of brake

I believe they have modeled their company after Southwest Airlines in the U.S. and Westjet in Canada. Generally the only frills they cut back on are the food and drink service. Other than the minor wing flap problem they had the other day, I would say that they are a very well run airline. I have flown them many times in around Malaysia.
