Hi Doolish,

That is a good price for Emirates on current prices. My daughter just recently visited me (Aug 16th --> Sept 5th) and she paid GBP620 ,inclusive of taxes, Manchester to Bangkok.

My sister & hubby are coming out 2nd December, Man --> Bkk, for 4 weeks and they are paying GBP579 + taxes.

It is difficult to know so far ahead whether prices will go up or down. However I am a frequent flier with Emirates and have been for a few years. After 9-11 when air travel collapsed, well it was always best to leave it until last minute, as good deals were there to be had. Now however, in the case of Emirates, their flights from Dubai to Bangkok especially, are normally chocka. They are getting the upper hand again and starting to force up their fares. Hope this helps...RayBan  8) 8) 8)

Doug,

Obviously you must live near Manchester but have you thought of going direct from London, using a short hop to Manchester.

This far out, most airlines will quote full economy or highish prices. Keep trying regularly until Xmas. I would have thought that you could achieve better than that price via LHR. Personally, I hate the 6 + 6 type flights as i never get any sleep.

I would call trailfinders (www.trailfinders.com) and ask them. If calling London, call their City office rather than Kensington.

Doug,

Emrates normally run at about £80 cheaper than that, and do so up until the high season in Dec.  It appears that none of next years prices have been adjusted, or that they have taken a big hike.  I would be prepared to wait until Jan to see what comes up.  It would be worth checking with your agent what Emirates considers its high season for the summer school hols.  Most airlines go for about 15 Jul-31 Aug but some go as early as 1 Jul.

Regards,

Tom

Over the last 15 years, basic Economy fares for UK to Thailand havent really risen.

Just checking one of my very old price lists shows Gulfair at around the £400 mark and Thai at £450, not that much difference ?

A good fare is one that you are happy with. I'd ask them to hold it for you, which, this early they should be able to do for 3 months or so. Dont pay up front for a flight in July though

Hi,

Thanks a lot for you help. For the past 7days if've been checking the internet, about 3Hrs a day, for flights from the 2 July for 8 weeks. Also making return date flex.

The cheapest i found was £446 with R. Jordan fom Lon.

Living in the Isle of Man, flights do not go to Heathrow now BA has taken over, this means I'll have to pay £30 extra to get to London, travel across Lon and on way back stay overnight in a hotel. I checked costs and this will put a extra £110 on the bill and was not worth the hassle. Flying Em. from Hea. was only £25 cheaper than Man. I,ve checked most of the web sites I have found on your board, which was very helpful.

The reason i'm worried aboutit is that my mate booked with Air France, I know don't say a word, in June for Jan. 04, for £510 the same flight when i checked it this week was £760 which is quiet a hike. I checked other A.F. flights for the dates i want £730 upwards.

I think i'll take your advice and pro. book.

Again thanks for your help. Cheers Doug.
