Hi pacificsea,

Glad to read someone's flyin from LAX to BKK/LOS!  Can you let me know how Korean Air is/was? ???  I hope to be in Pattaya this June.   Where/how did you get this fare?

 

Also, does your work know where you're goin?  Will you encounter any SARS backlash for goin to Asia?  I've heard some returning from Asia are avoided at work, receiving rude comments, etc.  Everyone's paranoid.

this the second time that i have flown with korean first time the flight was ok going there but the layover on the way back was 8 hours that really sucked

but this time on the way over only 1 hour layover on the way over and 1 1/2 hour on the way back . plus bring some snacks the food sucks but couldnt beat the price

i would ride a cargo plane if i had to

I fly LAX to BKK on Thai Airlines. The service is great and food, teriffic! 45 minute layover in Tokyo both ways so it's quick.

 

8 days until "wheels up"!

There are some very good prices on travelocity.com and orbitz.com also.  NW for 609.20 tax incl, and about the same for United, but the best seems to be Japan Air for 585.00 including tax.  Both these sights charge a five dollar service charge, (travelocity & orbitz). Two other pretty good sites are  thaifly.com and sidestep.com, which uses orbitz, but they list most of the airlines on your chosen dates and their prices starting with the cheapest, and list all their schedules.  By the way. all three of those mentioned go thru Japan, a good choice.

I have used Korean 6 times and if the layover is   8 hours or longer I have been given a room at the hotel there in the airport. It is real nice hotel that would cost 35.00 for 8 hours if I had to pay and I never had to check it out.

FWIW, I've only used Cathay Pac to BKK, but, they seem Bankrupt due to SARS, so, I may be a lil' spoiled.

 

I've been chking all the online ticket brokers, but, prices are still high relatively for June '03 fares.  I guess I need to wait a few more weeks.

 

I wanna try Thai Air; heard only good reviews, but, seems a lil' high $.

 

I've flown and liked NW to Manila and Tokyo, but, not in last 5 yrs nor to BKK.  I've heard bad svc, however, from all euros.  I have nothing against'm, but, euros seem to be more sensitive about service.
