Emirates Double Daily ex Manchester

Recommended Posts

Emirates is set to go double daily from Manchester commencing on 1 June.

The additional flight will depart at 2035, arriving in BKK at 1835 the following day (3 hour layover in Dubai as per the current early afternoon flight).  The only feasible return remains the 0125 departure from BKK which gets into Manchester at 1200.

The new service is good news on two fronts.  Firstly, it enables us who want to be quick out of the blocks after work to fit in one extra night in LOS and secondly, the new service uses an Airbus 330 on the connecting flight from Dubai rather than the sardine tin that passes for a Boeing 777 which is the connecting aircraft on the afternoon departure from Manchester.  Unfortunately, the 0125 flight BKK to Dubai will still use the 777.

Incidently, a recent press release from Thai announcing their new service to Geneva stated that flights between BKK and MAN will commence within the next five years - hopefully their cabins will be upgraded by the time this gets underway.

EVA has again revised its schedule BKK to LHR which allows you to connect the to the regions the same night at LHR on the return rather than spending a night in the company of our southern cousins!

With the Qatar flights now being well-established there is now more choice than ever from Manchester and it will probably get better with the imminent introduction of the reduced landing fees at the airport.

Happy planning.

Tom

Cheshiretom,

Thanks for the info, do you use the same travel agent to book your flights or do you find it's best to butterfly?

TIA

Gus,

I've actually just changed agents from Travelbag to Trailfinders.  Both are OK for me; Travelbag is nearer to where I live, Trailfinders to where I work.  I won't book with anyone if I cannot visit the shop to get my point across if things start going tits-up, as they ocassionaly do.

I have found that generally Trailfinders comes in at about £5-£7 cheaper and they don't levy CC charges so, all in all, are about £12 cheaper.  Trailfinders also ticket from Manchester so I can pop in to pick up my tickets when I want whereas Travelbag can only ticket from Alton.  Travelbag has also been taken over by e-bookers and I don't want to hang around for the day when I am dealing with some agent in Delhi!  I was also able to ticket myself with EVA on a FF upgrade through Trailfinders relatively easy; something that Travelbag found too difficult to even contemplate.

If you have no particular preference for an agent I would suggest just calling round those "big banner" agents that advertise in the quality press and go with the one that you feel most comfortable with.  Of the smaller independents, Ours Travel and West East ? Travel have been recommended by other boardies.

Regards,

Tom
