These days i find the Soi 10 / Soi 11 location is the one that most suits my needs being convenient for the beach, Walking street, Second Road and Soi lk metro etc. The Maytara hotel is perfectly(for me ) situated on the corner of Soi 11 and second Road. The hotel has around 40 rooms over four floors with a small pool, a 24 hour restaurant facing onto second road, and a contracted out in house massage shop. Three different price points. Standard rooms with or without direct pool access and two room suites. I took a suite via hotels.com which was £40 per night excluding breakfast. Walk in rates for the cheaper standard rooms were 1200 baht per night. The huge king size bed bed was one of the most comfortable i have experienced in Pattaya. The living area was furnished in traditional Thai style and the bathroom was functional rather than luxurious.I took a massage most afternoons and some of the staff were not adverse to making private arrangements once the shop had closed. If you want a reasonably priced, conveniently located three star hotel it ticks most of the boxes apart from one. The WIFI was absolutely terrible throughout the entire hotel and the only place i managed to pick up a decent reception was in the massage shop. For me this was a deal breaker and i wouldn't go back unless i was convinced the problem with the WIFI had been sorted

Thanks for this. Quick question --

I was going to book a suite the next time I'm in town, but can't figure out how the living area was laid out (and there are not photos). It just looks like there is a single huge Thai bed in one corner and nothing else but empty space throughout the living area. Is that true? If not, what did the living area look like in speicifc? Was there a TV in there? Desk?

Hi Harvey,

In addition to the Thai Style bed the living area contained an armchair, fridge, desk and chair, decent size TV and a small balcony that was shared with two air conditioning units. To be honest the Thai style bed looked nice but wasn't especially comfortable. I tried it once but didn't really use it for the rest of my stay. In contrast the main bed was extremely comfortable.

The hotel was about half full when i was there ( late May / early June ) and i got the impression that you could probably negotiate a decent walk up rate if they had the spare capacity. I found the staff friendly and would go back if they could sort out the WIFI issues
