Airline Reservation Error

This past May, I booked a flight on Cathay Pacific through American Airlines using my American airmiles.  When I checked in for my return flight this past Sunday in Bangkok I was informed that the return flight from Hong Kong to San Francisco had already left Hong Kong.  My ticket showed the flight leaving at 1135 PM, when in fact that flight leaves at 435 PM.  I had always assumed that if the day and flight were correct that the computer reservation system would not allow an incorrect time.  Anyway the Cathay Pacific people denied it was their mistake since American issued the ticket, however they got me on the flight the following day with no additional charge.  They put me up in the Miracle Grand, had them pick me up at the airport and returned the following day, and paid for my dinner and breakfast.  This hotel is near the airport and is one of the nicer hotels I've ever stayed in.  Bathrooom had a tub and a walk-in shower large enough for me and 6 Thai girls, telephone next to the throne and a TV in it.  When I got home,I called American and asked them what went wrong.  They couldn't figure it out either but said they were sorry for the inconvience and posted 5,000 miles to my account.  Lessons learned, beside checking your ticket for correct spelling of your name, dates and flight number, also check that the times on the ticket match up with their schedule.  Also stay calm, if I would have became obnoxious I'm doubt if Cathay would have taken care of me like they did.
