HELP!

My wife's sister is marrying her Brit B'friend of 10+ years in Nov. I was wondering how many months it might take AFTER the wedding and visa application for the process to be completed and for her to travel to England.

Lat and I want to plan a vacation in Liverpool once she is there.

Hi Ken and Lat

The visa will be issued by the embassy on the day of her interview if she is succesful and they can travel any day they choose after then, it may be some weeks from placing the paper work in and paying the fee to the actual interview date it is possible to place the paperwork prior to the marriage and then ask for a date after the marriage  I think. They will need to provide a folder of evidence showing how long they have known each other, proof of contact etc and that they have accommodation in the uk, www.thailand-uk.com is agood site with a forum on it with all they'll need to help them. Pass them my best wishes lou  :)

Got to agree with Louyi.

They can put in for date for an Interview then arrange the marriage for say a week to 10 days beforehand.

He'll need to sign a document stating he is free to marry and will need a decree Absolute.

Tell them to get all the paperwork they can.

Cant agree on the Thailand UK website.

Any mention of the word BarGirl sends them all into a panic  as, of course none of them ever married one !

(as if) ;D ;D ;D

I would guess a very large majority of Thailand-UK male Forum members are married to ex-bar girls.

There are plenty of excellent places on the internet (this one included) for bar girl discussions. The Thailand-UK Forum just isn't one of them.  Every discussion group serves it's purpose and I think Thailand-UK does a pretty good job in the genre it covers.

I would personally love to be able to see sensible debates there about such topics but without fail they always end up as a farce with bickering from the "holier than thou" brigade. Most of our members are British men married to Thai ladies, many of whom met in bars, but others include Thai students and business people in the UK, British ladies married to Thai men, etc.  The Thai bar scene is not familiar territory to them all.

Far from going into panic, we simply know from experience how difficult it is to cover these topics among people with such varying backgrounds, preconceptions, misconceptions and prejudices.

We discourage bar girl discussions to keep the peace. You have to bear in mind that the Thailand-UK Forum is, and always has been, a family oriented site. There are hundreds of other places you can talk about bar girls, so what's the problem?  :(  ;)

Best wishes
