I appreciate your caution. BUT - it could be a decade or more (may always be around) for Covid 19 to drop down to common flu like symptoms. Are you going to wait that long? People die from the common flu every year. Especially the elderly. Quality vaccines like Pfizer reduce chances of infection 95%. Those 5% unfortunate enough to get infected will not suffer serious illness or hospitalization. Chances of dying are virtually zero.* There is strong evidence that if infected and asymptomatic there is little chance of infecting others if vaccinated. *They believe Pfizer will limit the degree of sickness against the variants too!

Ambien is a miracle. I typically depart LAX, let them feed me, glass (or two) of red wine and sleep for a few hours. Wake up for the next meal, red wine & Ambien. Sleep again. Time passes more quickly, discomfort minimized (I fly the cheap seats). Most important, sleeping helps the resetting of the body clock upon arrival. Typically take an Ambien the first night or two to help sleep through the night. After 2-3 days I feel halfway normal. Used to take me a week or more to readjust.

Any idea why the CDC recommends schools should open? Jeez, how many kids die in car wrecks each year? How many teachers? Should we stop driving?

BUT it is not happening...so what do you base your expectations on?

Admittedly I have not followed the UK stats regarding children/teachers/school. Here in the US many private schools (including most Catholic schools) have remained open to various degrees. Some without pause. Some public schools the same. There is little if any empirical data that shows children who attend school become infected at greater rates than those who do not attend class. There just isn't. Hysterical teachers unions and the MSM scream about the danger. I live in a county next to LA County (which is far left stupid). Our county is more conservative and our county sheriff department (which is tasked with enforcing the draconian edicts commanded by the far left California Governor Newsom) takes a more relaxed posture towards enforcement. Many of our public schools (including where my daughter attended) have remained open. Stay at home orders have not been enforced. Wear masks in public orders not enforced. Many restaurants have continued to serve outside, some inside. ETC., ETC.! 90% of the time our infection rates were the same or a few points lower than LA. There was a 6 week period where we were 2-3% higher. Our children are in much better shape than LA.
