  4. No problem 2 sharing the room .2/3 ladies sharing rooms in Pattaya is the norm. Ron sorry I can not make it down with Lin ,I wish you all the best in the Future. Say Hi To Fah from Me and Lin. Hope you can still make it to Khon Kaen ,we may be awayin Chaing Mia from 18th March for about week. Take care my good friend
  5. Well as I have not taken Lins daughter who is 6 on holiday for a while. We are looking to go to Chaing Mia around the 18th March for one week. For 4 days we will stay in nice resort just out side of Chaing Mia ,we have stopped there before and found it very nice and peaceful. This is the web site of this place, also see pics taken July 2008 http://www.thefieldvillage.com/home.htm So the question im asking do any body know a nice family hotel in centre of Chaing Mia ,looking to stay 3 nights. Think the price range i would pay is about 2000/2400 bhts night For all replies ,Thank You
  6. Think its the same ,set by goverment license taxi company
  7. Just started 2 weeks ago ,but hope Gordon got you to airport ok
  8. The one i use Mr Sutad Klahan tel no 0817698988
  9. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa thanks for this ,now i know I could even make a saving from the Khon Kaen Flight which would cost 5000 bhts return per person and save time on the 12 hour bus ride from Khon to Chaing Mia. Get bus with Nakon Air from Khon Kaen to BKK Then flight from BBK to Chaing Mia would cost about 3000 bhts per person instead of 5000 bhts and about 9 hours instead of 12 hours
  10. Well this is a first for Khon Kaen I think ,2 weeks ago 30 new Meter Taxies arrived in Khon Kaen To my suprise when I rang my Tuk Tuk driver up he arrived in a new Meter Taxi He tells me that there is now 30 new taxies in Khon Kaen now. Well the journey I made ,in which i have made many times in tuk tuk,in the past i paid 100 bhts but to my suprise the meter taxi price showed only 60 bhts. But as I use this driver many times and comes to pick me up at my house I did give him 100bhts The good thing now is when my mates fly to Khon Kaen airport a meter taxi can now be booked ,so the costs to city should be cheaper than using the private car drivers Also in the raining season will be better using these taxies than tuk tuk
  11. As I was thinking taking my Thia Lady and her daughter on holiday to Chaing Mia next month. I saw on Nok Air web site new direct route from Khon Kaen to Chaing Mia also offering cheaper flights under 1000 bhts if booked before 24th Feb But when i tried booking on line the price quoted was 2500 bhts one way so return 5000 bhts. So when I rang Nok Air i was told these special prices of 990 bhts was from BBK Don Muang to Chaing Mia Also told the flights which are on Nok Air web site from khon kaen was not with Nok Air but a partner air line so special promotion price could not be offered. Very good price if you flying form BBK but a terrible price is flying from Khon Kaen This can only happen in Thailand ,shorter distance to fly from Khon Kaen but over double the price HAHA We may now catch the VIP bus from Khon Kaen to Chaing Mia but 12 hour journey but at a cost of just over 1000 bhts return journey thats a saving of 12000 bhts for the 3 of use.
  12. I have noticed in the last 6 months ,lots of land is now having houses /estates built here in Khon Kaen Im sure this coming new TAX will cause upset for many Thai people who has been sitting on land for many years. But it may cause house prices to come down as more houses than demand. Time will tell. Was on Thai tv today that this law may be brought in very soon. The New Land Tax Law By Admin on Jan 21, 2010 in Investment The government seems intent on proposing a new tax on land and property which if implemented could have a significant impact on the property market. Driving around Bangkok or viewing the city using Google Earth reveals a large number of empty land plots that one would not see in other cities. Traditionally Thais have invested in land as a long term asset even willing to hold the land for several generations without realizing any return apart from the capital gain. Unlike other countries there is almost no holding cost for vacant land. Local property taxes are minimal and there is no inheritance tax. Currently there is a tax on rental income which is set at 12.5%. Leases in Thailand are often split between rent, services and fixtures to reduce the landlord’s liability for household tax. The Democrat administration seems intent on reviewing the current taxes on property. The Finance Minister Korn Chatavanij suggested that a draft would be proposed for consideration by the cabinet in the first quarter. We understand that the new proposed new tax would impose an annual charge on land assets and property nationwide with local administrations given flexibility in setting rates. Rates would very depending on use. Owners of vacant unutilized land would possibly face a sliding scale with taxes increasing each year the land remains unutilized. Imposing a tax which creates a holding tax for land would be a radical move. We think the intended results are to broaden the tax base and to encourage more efficient land use. Taxes should be equitable, economic and efficient they should be fairly spread over the population, achieve economic goals and be easy and cost effective to collect and enforce. Property has always been a popular asset to tax by governments because it is visible and in countries like Thailand with widespread land registration there are good records. The devil will be in the detail and effectiveness of enforcement. A well written and enforced act could increase revenue for local authorities on both income producing buildings, owner occupied buildings and vacant property and land. If there is a high tax burden on unutilized land then this may pressure some landowners to sell as they might be asset rich but cash poor. The unintended consequence may be that there is a rush to develop land or sell to developers this might create oversupply. If the law does come into effect then I am also sure we will see some landowners trying to minimize their tax liability perhaps by claiming the land is being used for agricultural purposes even though it is in downtown Bangkok. The new land tax law has the potential to change the dynamics of the Thai property market but we shall have to wait for the exact details of the contents before we can forecast the possible impact. 18. Well found out how much Khon Kaen Uni ,dentist dept wanted for complete treatment of tooth implant quoted 35/40000 bhts . So today my lady had her tooth removed and temp plastic replacement on pallet from dentist clinic in Khon Kaen. In about 1/2 months will have tooth implant cost quoted 22000 bhts ,think what iv seen on web and other quotes this is good price ,at least 100% cheaper than having it done in the UK. Important she keeps on smiling for her and Me
  19. Kev thats seems a good price you was quoted as on their web site its quoting 60000 bhts for full implant and crown. Details what the costs cover below from smile clinic web site A dental implant is an artificial tooth replacement for the root portion of your natural tooth. Implants offer a permanent solution to tooth loss. Additionally, implants may be used in conjunction with other restorative procedures for maximum effectiveness. For example, a single implant can serve to support a crown replacing a single missing tooth. Implants can also be used to support a bridge for the replacement of multiple missing teeth, and can be used with dentures to increase stability. During the placement of a dental implant, the goal is to achieve a close contact between the outer surface of the implant and the surrounding bone tissue so they can “fuse” together (osseointegration), creating a stable support for the new teeth. To achieve both esthetic and clinical results, your implants will be take care by certified cosmetic and prosthodontic dentists.
  20. Well all the searching on the web this must the cheapest by far ,its 100% cheaper than Thailand

  22. What your experiance and cost of your Dentist work you have had in Thailand? I have just had at a Clinic in Khon Kaen descale and clean ,cost 500 bhts including check up ,thats about £10 in uk now its £16 + on National Health. Time took 45 minutes and far better job that I have had before in the UK. In Patts and BKK price range from 600 bhts to 1000 bhts in which I read on web site. I also think I need a Crown/Cap was quoted about 7500 bhts but think this is only for basic metal, Why I went to DENTIST in first place was for my Tg ,as she has a very loose front tooth which needs replacing. At private clinic in Khon Kaen for new screw implant including new crown was 20000 bhts I thought this sounded expensive but checking same treatment in Pattaya and BKK the costs ranged from 49000 bhts to 70000 bhts depending where you go. I know same in UK would cost £1200 , The cheapest I found on the web for the same treatment was £365 in a east European country . So the price in quoted in Khon Kaen at 20000 bhts seems not to bad now. But I have been told same treatment at the Khon Kaen Uni Denist Hospital is cheaper and been told you receive very good tratment there also this Uni trains very good Dentists who then move on to very good jobs around the world with their very good qualifications Have any body used the Khon Kaen Dentist Hospital before? I do know if any body travels to Thailand and get Dentist work ,it may be more expensive in BBK and Pattaya than other areas of Thailand as I have done a lot of searching on the web for this information ? Just for informatiom my Tg daughter who is under 6 years old received minor dentist work from Khon Kaen Hospital this was free as she is registered living in the area of Khon Kaen
