I installed the new VLC and it worked great. Then, something happened, and when I played a video the entire computer screen collpased to a very small size and I had no access to controls on the toolbar. I uninstalled the program..What happened?

I use a Toshiba laptop with Vista...I'm fine with Vista. I started using the Solomon Edge modem with an AIS sim on my Dell laptop with XP...I switched to Dtac as it seemed to work better here in Huay Yai south of Pattaya. Last March I bought the Toshiba...all worked well. Last year around this time I was having difficulty getting an internet connection then all cleared up. I thought it might have been the new laptop and OS....now it is starting again. I can get a Dtac connection into the system easily but when I want an internet connection it says I am not authorized...I need to try repeatedly even physically reconnecting the modem...This morning it took over an hour to get a connection. Where do you think the problem may be? Dtac or the modem? If I bought another modem such as Sierra would it help? Any ideas? Thanks

I stopped by twice before but the shop was closed...the second time I looked at the small sign on the door and saw that it is closed on Sunday...It was sunday...so, yesterday, Tuesday, my wife and I stopped by. We couldn't stay so ordered 4 beef and 4 chicken tacos to go. The beef was OK and the chicken a bit dry...in fact, the beef was tasty...the sauce provided was very mild but added to the chicken it moistened it up a lot. I enjoyed both the taco types with the beef tasting the best to me. Next time I will have sour cream and/or guacomole added to it..both of these are for sale at the shop. I prefer a hot salsa...I have some at home and will try it the next time I take out tacos from here. When we went into the shop the staff had the radio turned up load but as we entered they quickly turned it down low. Thanks for that consideration. I will return for sure to give the tacos a second try and to sit down to a combination plate. I recommend this shop.

Last evening a Thai family (the adult daughter was married to a farang and is gorgeous) looked at the land and said they will buy for sure. Looks like it sold the first day. Now my friend can take care of his medical problems.

Older man forced to sell land. Three (3) rai next to Pattaya Airpark and near Phoenix Golf. This land is walled with two gates, two newly built outbuildings, a pond, well, garden and fruit trees. Health is an issue so this land is up for a quick sale. call 0859426526...Mod, my English speaking wife, will show the land.

Do you support capital punishment?
Craig replied to azharleyboy's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I do not support capital punshment but I certainly understand the impulse to have this punishment particularly for heinous crimes. As was stated statistics show it does not deter crime and with many examples of DNA evidence clearing convicted people the system is too corrupt or unrefined to be sure of the guilt. Here corruption is so rampant and the police are quick to find scapegoats....for example trying to blame the singer in the band for the latest nightclub fire and evidence soon showed they lied. Thailand is not alone in this corruption...this morning the paper reported US judges giving unusually harsh sentences to juvenile offenders to send them to PRIVATE FOR PROFIT prisons and get cash kickbacks from these prisons. Things are too corrupt to send someone to die when he/she may be innocent. I grew up with the idea it is better to let guilty go free than convict innocent people.... Is the purpose of capital punishment revenge? To save money? But, I get pissed with the idea taxpayers have to support these people in prison...and find myself in the same situation as Jacko "I can't get my head around this one, my cool head says who has the divine right to order the death of another... my hot head says they have rejected society, society owes them nothing and the world would be a better place without them..." I've changed my mind so many times on this issue...If someone committed a grotesque crime against one of my loved ones, I'd probably dust off my service 45 and blow them to hell and I do cheer when I read about someone taking out a slimeball. But....at the end of it all I do not support capital punishment...It seems that the poor and powerless are the ones sucking the gas or getting the needle....Wall Street Bankers and corrupt politicians fuck up everyone's lives and they get a slap on the butt...we've got torturers in the US government collecting pensions and some argue to turn the police free to be judge, jury and executioner. We as a species are just too fucked up. -

Loy Krathong -- BKK or Pattaya?
Craig replied to Mescalito's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I spent last Loy Krathong in Jomtien....the beach was full of people floating candles into the sea and launching candles with plastic parachutes into the sky. Actually, lots of fun and I enjoyed it. I rent a bungalow between Jomtien Beach and Sukhumvit road and sitting on my porch looking at the candles float by in the sky was neat. This year I will go with a bunch of Thai friends in a private minivan to Sukhothai for the festival...They plan on sleeping under the stars and not in hotel room...these are mature responsible folk and not thrill seeking kids...I'm a bit hesitant about the sleeping rough idea and am thinking of booking a hotel room for my TG and I. -
I have a goatee and the women don't mind. The major thing they don't like, or at least what they tell me, is a foul smelling man. Therefore, I take great care in cleanliness. As Irishman said "it's about MONEY." Some of the bar girls seem to enjoy playing with the goatee. In any case enjoy.

Yes, it is the Southern Bus Station. I took the bus from Kanchanaburi last week and this is where I ended up.

My TG worked at Tesco in the seafood department and earned 5700 baht, she says starting wage is 4700 baht and cashiers make around 6200 baht. Senior staff more. Thisi s for six days a week and 8 hours a day. She worked for three months at the north Pattaya Tesco...she lives near Sattahip and didn't like the commute so she quit. She worked at a restaurant that also made meat products...she cleaned the freezer, made sausage, packaged meats....she earned 3500 baht and says she would have earned more if she stayed longer...the people also earned tips....she says her share came to around 1000 baht so she earned around 4500 in a month. She also had health insurance through the job...She worked six days a week and 10 hours a day....with a lunch break and some time to rest when chores done and no customers. She worked at this job for around four months and quit just over a year ago. She has friend who works for 7/11 and earns 8000 a month....she started at 4500 several years ago. She told the boss she was leaving and he increased her wage...she gets health insurance through work. Another friend works for the telephone company and earns 7500 baht after three years of working for them...she gets health insurance also. She works five days a week and 8 hours a day. A man who works for the housing complex I am in earns 4000 a month. He does all sorts of odd jobs and I doubt if the landlady pays health insurance...but I don't know. The night security guy, who sleeps most of the time, gets the same. My TG says neither of them get health insurance.

Saigon Butterfly....I don't know what was in the needle but whatever it was...I felt no pain during the entire process...I told the dentist that I was hard to deaden sometimes. She said lets try whatever was in the needle and if I felt any pain to indicate that to her and she would give me more....I didn't need anything else. I was given a handful of large pink pill to take if I felt anything at home...no pain so I didn't use....my girlfriend has use two over the last few months when she has a menstrual cramps. Sorry, I can't tell you what I was on...I just know it worked
