My mate has booked us 2 single rooms, I would prefer a double, are the singles large enough for a guest ? I am only a little bloke, so a fair sized single bed will do. If the singles are a bit cramped though , I'll not like it.

I have woken up some mornings, wishing I had watered the drinks down.

Doolish, Well done mate, any Ferang that gets a bargain in LOS is a hero to me. . Never been there myself, but might give it a look-see some time.

Hmm.. a hotel that doesn't want a shagathon in it's rooms. I find that a bit of a challenge. Don't you just wish you had the balls to walk into the foyer of such a place with 4-5 BG's ? Then speak in a really loud voice, asking for 5 bottles of the best Chamagne sent to your room in half an hour ? Wave to all the guests sitting in the lounge, as you walk to the lift.- Great.

Those two boat shaped hotels about soi 12 Beach road, I can't remember the name. Always fancied a stay there, A bit pang I expect. Don't suppose they welcome extra guests either. Anyone stayed ?

Thanks Walt, I'll get mine at home. Got someone to go to the shop with me, who knows about thease things.
-
Thanks Bazle. I don't really want to get into a long drawn out 20 questions with the I.R. I'll tell him it's not possible. Although we worked for a Canadian Company in the U.K. the pension scheme and contributions were handled locally in U.K. Cheers
-
Hmm... The thing is Mike, he is hoping to get a 2 year backdated refund. This would be his first contact with the I.R. How does he prove he has been in LOS for 2 years ? Do you pay any tax on your company pension at all ?
-
Thanks Alan, From memory, that was stated in the previous post. He was hoping to get it back dated 2 years and cop a few bob. Ah well, death and taxes. The great unavoidables.

Just had a call from a mate in LOS. He want's to claim back income tax, on his company pension. I am sure there was a post about this. I have searched without any luck. He is determined to see his time out in LOS, and would apreciate the extra money. If he does, must he show them he's a tax payer in LOS ? Any info' would be apreciated- thanks NNH
-
So, do you buy a camera locally, in case of a problem, or in LOS to save money ?
-
I'm sure mine would be within the wheight allowance.

Sorry, I should have made it clearer. I am a retired a/line employee, so still qualify for discount travel on a space available status. You can get offloaed at any time up to departure. Thing is, waiting Bangkok airport 'till 1230 am 40 mins before pushback, to know if you are travelling or not, can be a bit stressfull. My Sister in Law travelled to Canada with us once. She swore she would never do it again. Her husband had a leaflet with the configuration of a DC9 at the departure gate at Vancouver, he was counting the revenue passengers as they boarded. Last flight to Edmonton. We got on, but only just. Thanks VALENTINO, I had forgoten about Touchdown.

Got a quote from West East for Feb' LHR/BKK/LHR Eva £465 + £95 tax + £25 charge for return date change. TG £485 + £98 ?? tax, no charge for return date change. Or, I could use my airline stand- by status, for about £140 same route. Only get on if seat available. Wodja think ?

The U.K.'s Welfare state was created for the people who needed help, between working down mines, building ships, ploughing fields, manning trawlers, serving in the armed forces etc. In short, those, who, for generations, contributed towards the country's wealth. It is also there, for some to abuse it's generosity. We planted the seed, fertilised and cared for the tree. Now, others are helping themselves to the fruit, and doing it with our Goverment's blessing. They say, Government's don't have their own money, it belongs to the people. That must be why they don't care who get's it. Funny old world isn't it ? Yeh, I know they are contributing to the pot, but to be on par with me, pension wise, the new arrivals will have to contribute till about 2045 to catch up. -

So Bill, It wasn't the rum that tempted you, it must have been the Bum and Backy ! Us Old Sods, are not as silly as the world would have you think. Anyway, I'm still 17 in my head. It's when I start putting dates to the places and things I have done, that reminds me, that I am getting on a bit. Now I keep repeating the words to that song " Don't stop thinking about tommorow, don't keep thinking about today, yesterday's gone, yeh, yesterday's gone " Or words to that effect. Fleetwod Mac- that's the Group ! From around you're way ? -

Bill, How dare you ! I wasn't 15 'till 13 February 1962. Much younger ! I was a Butcher's Boy, same trades bike, small wheel in front, wheiged a ton loaded. 1963 was my first winter in a shop, bloody cold, used to pop into the fridge for a warm. Tell kids that nowadays, they won't believe you ! -

Yep, I left school at 15. Worked for 41 years. I too, would rather get by on my Company Pension. I will not pay a penny more N.I. Before I retired, I attended a seminar for advise among other things, on what to expect from the government at 65. We were told that to qualify for a full pension, we needed to have paid NI contributions from age 16- 55. There is a 3 year holiday allowed in that time. My payments age 15-16 don't count. Now, we are told there is a pension crisis and don't take your state pension for granted. When I think of all the taxes I have paid since 1962, for Income, N.I. V.A.T. Road tax, petrol, beer, now Airport. I ask. WHERE THE FUCK HAS IT ALL GONE ? I seem to see plenty of people, who have been here well after 1962 getting pension payments at the P.Office. Maybe, that answers my question. They might as well go to my bank and take a few quid out of my account- it's the same thing. Anyone, who has been P.A.Y.E. all their life, like me, were just like money cows. there to be milked. -

On my last trip, met a bloke on the beach. He was bragging, that he got invalidity benefit for an injured hand, housing benefit and the old Rock and Roll too. He had just bought 6 shirts from a vendor, was covered in gold jewelrey, so was his pregnant Thai GF. Boasted about his criminal activities, then walked off towards the Dogs Bollocks Bar. Well, at least he was English I suppose.
