Last night at 02.35.24 Thailand Time (20.35.24 UK time) I got a strange SMS from a tel number in Ireland (+353864582439) quote: Hurry Your mobile no has won BP 500,000.00 pounds on the APPLE IPhone PROMO. Send name, mobile, Email to: claims34@hotmail.co.uk unquote Did anyone else on this website get this SMS. I did of course not reply but wonder if I should do anything i.e. inform APPLE or Irish Authorities. Any reply would be appreciated.

Does any BM know if the fight tomorrow morning will be shown on True TV or in any Pattaya bar on TV. I have a lot of friends from the Philippines and they are all asking me. Thanks for any reply.

I am truly perplexed that so many of my friends are against another mosque being built in London on the Thames ? I think it should be the goal of every Englishman to be tolerant. Thus the Mosque should be allowed, in an effort to promote tolerance. That is why I also propose that two nightclubs be opened next door to the mosque, thereby promoting tolerance from within the mosque. We could call one of the clubs, which would be gay, "The Turban Cowboy", and the other a topless bar called "You Mecca Me Hot." Next door should be a butcher shop that specializes in pork, and adjacent to that an open-pit barbeque pork restaurant, called "Iraq o' Ribs." Across the street there could be a lingerie store called "Victoria Keeps Nothing Secret ", with sexy mannequins in the window modeling the goods. Next door to the lingerie shop there would be room for an adult sex toy shop, "Koranal Knowledge ", its name in flashing neon lights, and on the other side a liquor store called "Morehammered." All of this would encourage the Muslims to demonstrate the tolerance they demand of us, so the mosque problem would be solved. If you agree with promoting tolerance, and you think this is a good plan, please publish my letter.

Thank you guys for your replies. I have received the answer I was expecting on Thai Visa. A child under 14 does not have to pay for overstaying her visa. We can either apply for a dependent visa or for an ed visa, but both applications have to be filed at the main immigration office in Bangkok, visa changes can't be done at Jomtien immigration.

I have now been living in Thailand for the last 6 years on a retirement visa. Since 2008 my Philippine gf lives here with me. She stayed here always on a double entry tourist visa either from Cambodia or the Philippines. Now we have changed her visa status into Non-B which expires March 2013. Since Sept. 2011 we have also her 8 year old daughter living with us. She is here on a 30 day visa on arrival and is enrolled in Burappa International School Pattaya and the help we are getting from the school is not existing, they are hopeless and incompetent. If my daughter wants to leave can she be charged for overstaying? What kind of visa do we need for her if we need any? I am titally confused and frustrated because different visa agents are telling different stories and at the end you always got the feeling, that they want your money for as little work as possible. My gf and I can not get married, because she is still married in the Philippines, and they don't know divorce, we can only get her marriage annulled which will cost us about 250.000.00 PPeso without guarantee from the lawyer, that the annulment will be granted. Maybe somebody on this website experienced the same problems, every advise will be appreciated.

Hi Guys, I have just been to the immigration in Jomtien and was informed that they are now requesting 2 originals of form TM7 and therefore also 2 photos. I was told it is a new regulation and I thought it might be interesting to hear about it, because I arrived there only with 1 original and 1 photo, and had to do it all again.

A couple of month ago I read a story abt a new airline opening up services from Bangkok to other centers in Asia. They even have a web page on http://www.crystalthaiair.com and their latest news was from Feb. this year. They opened an office in Bangkok and trained their flight crew and their opening flight was supposed to be in March 2011, but nothing after that. Does anybody on the forum knows what is happening here, did they not get a license or don't they have planes. Would be interested to hear any news. Old Salty

Last Thursday she died while on stage in Boomerang Bar from a massive heart attack. She is leaving behind a devastated husband and a little girl. Hi Sinsinbad, I know you started your topic already 1 month ago and I do not know if you have made a decision in the meantime, but I like to tell you about my experience of living with a Philippina in Thailand. I met a Philippina 2 years ago in Pattaya, she is originally from Subic Bay (Barrio Barretto) and came here for a visit. We liked each other from the beginning and soon she moved into my condo. I lived with a couple of thai girls before and nothing worked out. There were a lot of communication problems and mostly finacial issues, so I went on looking and looking until I found her. She loves Thailand especially the food over here and has in the meantime many Thai and Philippina girlfriends. What you have to do put her straight away into a Thai language class so that she can communicate with the girls over here, because most of the time when you go to parties you will see the girls sitting on one side talking Thai and the expats on the other side talking English, so she would be lost if she does not speak Thai. There is always CEBU Pacific and they have many specials in the year so that your wife can go easily back to the Philippines for renewal of her Visa or to visit her family. She can also easily renew her visa in Cambodgia or Laos so there are many possibilities. If you are married and you are entitled to a retirement visa she can now piggyback on it so that she can slso stay for one year without any problem. She will find many Philippinas here in Thailand, they are mostly singers in the philippine bands that work in Pattaya. Yes you are right. The bank has to issue a letter and state that the amount of your foreign currency is equal or more than 800,000.00 Baht, but you should have a letter from the bank in any case and not just the savings book.

I am inThailand on a retirement visa and I am living together with a Philippina who is staying in Thailand on a double entry tourist visa. We were planning a trip to Europe and went to the German Embassy to apply for a tourist visa for her. at the Embassy we were informed that she can not apply for a tourist visa to the Schengen States in Thailand because she is only a tourist here and needs to show residency in Thailand, otherwise she can only apply for a tourist visa to Europe in Manila. I have now following questions to the BMs: Has anybody else ever dealt with this problem and if yes, how did you solve it? Is it possible to change a tourist visa into a residence visa without leaving Thailand? Is an Ed-visa equal to a residence visa and does it allow to apply for a tourist visa at the German Embassy? All answers and advises are appreciated>

That is not totally right, because I have 800 k in a foreign currency savings account and had no problems renewing my retirement visa. The money has to be in a savings account and not in a term deposit account, so that you can access your funds immediately if needed.

You worry too much mate with this or your previous question. I will try to give you an answer on both of them. OK first come over here and than find yourself a small condo or hotel room in Jomtien, which is a bit out of the rat race in Pattaya. Jomtien is south of Pattaya and has a better beach. The bars are smaller and not so crowded. You will find a lot of lovely ladies there and they are not as aggresssive as in Pattaya. The Mamasans or bar owners are going to guide you into the right direction, because they know there girls and what they want. Just talk to them and find the right one for you, which you will without any problem. Than you and your girl go to the Pattaya International Hospital on soi 4 in Pattaya and have all the tests done that you want. The girls are not offended if you are suggesting that normally they are appreciating if you act like that, because they don't want to catch STD either. Maybe you have to wait 24 hrs and and it might cost you approx. 4000 Baht for the 2 of you, but than you are safe and not sorry But is they say here "It's up to you"
