Jacko nearly right mate 58,next month,been retired since 50. Maybe i should call it living within my means,but still better than working in uk,even though i earned over 42,000 gbp per year gross.5k bar bills are crazy,i cannot drink that much and why should i buy loads of lady drinks.If i needed to get a couple of million baht thats not a problem,and the extra 15,000 gbp will allow me to save more. Totaly agree mate,i wouldnt want to see any farang bar owner get done for something trivial.My anger is at these fucking thai karaoke owners who dont even get a drinks license then proceed to bang music out until 6.00am in the morning and have kids taking drugs and shooting each other.They are the ones to blame for some of thess crackdowns

The way Torrevona(sp) talks he would be the guy who wastes money like water,but he is good at estimating how many million baht a year we all need to have a small existance here. eg My mate lives in Bangkok and Buriram,great guy,pleasant,courtious,no troubles or problems he spends at least 2,000 baht a night on expensive drinks/lady drinks etc,in the space of 2 hours,so thats 60,000 a month approx.35,000 baht a month condo,and he spends about 2/3 of the month in there. I retired at 50 with a plan for a 5% inflation per annum,about the same as uk.Been here for 6 years and have about the same as you but another 15,000 per year is due when i am 65.I have no regrets and much prefer here than uk over the last 6 years,and i could have been killed in a car crash in England and missed this fantastic journey. When you have done everything,mongering,gogo bars,pissed up every night,you soon settle down to a fairly normal lifestyle,with more bbq at friends houses and a more cha cha daily routine.

I fully understand what you say but i still think he has enough to live on.Inflation hasppens anywhere in the world and the uk is one of the worst.There are some crazy figures on here about what monthly income is needed to live in Thailand as i(3 of us) can live here for about 12-14,000 baht a week,but i do have more if needed,always live within your means

This guy has 70,000 gbp lump sum too,and at 4% interest will give nearly 3,000 gbp on top of what he has.I agree that he needs rent/property,maybe a car/motorbike but he can live in Thailand and have a better life than uk,with the money he has.You dont have to get pissed and shag twice a day to have a nice life.
