  1. Midlifecrisis - I am working into retirement in Pattaya (Jomtien) slowly, so I don't have much experience in Pattaya itself. I've travelled to Thailand many other times and always loved it. I did a 3 month trip last winter to Pattaya only, worked out great. Heading back Oct. 9th for 6 months to set things up (banking, drivers licence & long term condo rental) and make sure I still like it. After that I'll clean up some business in Canada then head back to Patts and pursue a retirement visa. I will be here in January and would like to go out for a few beers and share experiences about P
  2. Hawkster - Sent you a private message but not sure it went thru. Please let me know if it didn't. Gerry
  3. Everyone I talk to says I'm good looking - at least when carrying a big stick! What's wrong with Danny Devito? With his humor, charm and humble sincerity he could attact more Thai ladies than most of us. Add into this his vast wealth and fame and it would make him even more hansum! (even as the Penguin) The man is obiously a stud.
  4. I have always liked and paid extra for the Elite Class but this trip I will fly Eva economy only because of the price. It used to cost only 300 Canadian dollars extra round trip, it is now double that in a few years. I think it has gotten too popular. I think I'll pop a sleeping pill for the 14 hour leg from Vancouver to Tapei, I won't notice the smaller seats that way.
  5. That looks like a simple 6-8 storey building with lots of roof access. It wouldn't take much equipment to rapel down to these units, you could teach a monkey to do it! Many high rise windows in your country are cleaned with a simple bosun chair , basket or swing stage and they are hundreds of feet higher (with a backup safety line of course). Once you do it and have confidence in your equipment it's quick, efficient and safe. Been there done that.
  6. It would be easy to rapel down to the A/C units and do maintenance after tieing off. It would be alot cheaper than paying for the cherry picker to look after 1 unit. Original instalation I'm sure they used one or scaffolding. I like having the noisy bastards of the balcony though, good idea.
  7. I stayed here for 3 days in March and negotiated a price with Kevin on the internet which included breakfast. Upon checkin she wanted 100 baht more and didn't want to include breakfast! I showed her my email and she reluctantly supplied breakie but wanted the extra 100 baht. After 20 hours of travel time I checked in anyways but won't book there again.
