  1. Shooter, Thanks for the info. Don't know why I had Time in my head.
  2. Did the Golf Club re-open or is he working at the place that took over the space? Time, I think it's called. Are most of the old staff there?
  3. Is Raju the one who was cooking on the grill during steak night?
  4. I don't know if it just an american thing, but October is an auspicious month to open a bar with the "milk" concept.
  5. Excellent! Good to see Moulie back in action.
  6. Thanks for the response Shooter. I had seen on google that it was permanently closed, but the website is still active as of this post so was holding out hope it would open up again one day.
  7. I was watching one of the walking tours on YouTube going through LK metro. I noticed The Golf Club Bar and Guest House appears to have been replaced Mint Restaurant. I know one of the owners, Steve who was a super nice guy, passed away right before my last trip. Any one know when and why they closed? Was it the pandemic or did the remaining owners close it down when Steve passed? Maybe combination of both. It looks like I will be returning to a very different Pattaya when I make it back. Like starting all over again. My very first trip to Thailand I was told by friends to stay at the Res
  8. Thanks for all the information. I will post the results for the ferry and prices. When I make the crossing.
  9. I have a rental car and plan on going to Koh Chang for a few days after going to Khao Khitchakut. I understand that there are 2 car ferry companies, departing the mainland from Ao Thammachat and Centerpoint. Does any one know if one is better than the other? Also, I a saw a post from last year about non-island residences not being able to take vehicles on the ferries. But it appears it may have been a hiccup, scam or fail experiment. http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/topic/65732-car-access-limited-for-koh-chang/?hl=%2Bcar+%2Bferry Does anyone know the status of this? Thanks fo
  10. Traveled that section 2 weeks ago and the road is fine. There are some repaired spots, but the road is fine. Unless the suspension on your car is really, really bad it is no problem at all.
  11. Just an update to bring the thread full circle. I have completed the drive from Pattaya to Patong with no issues. I bought a Garmin 42 directly from ESRI Thailand in Bangkok for THB 2,990. Rented a 4-door Totoya Altis, THB 14,916.52 for 9 days, which included full insurance coverage and tax. Unlike motorbike rentals they do require and make a copy of your International Driving Permit with your home country drivers license. The worst traffic the whole trip was leaving Pattaya. Took the southern route around Bangkok about 11 am on the elevated freeway, traffic was moderate and kept moving at
  12. The the proposed alcohol ban is officially scraped. Got to wonder how it could reasonable even come up. also, The second part does not mention airports so it's not too unreasonable.
  13. I think they have tried to in the past but I don't think it made much of a difference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vzlqr48kUko
  14. I went in last month and got a 60-day double entry tourist visa in about 20 minutes for $40. Very easy and painless and yes, she will give you a triple entry which is an extra $20. DW
  15. Thanks for the input. I’ve thought about taking a companion. It has it pros and cons. Having a translator would be very helpful but could be inconvenient while checking out the nightlife. It’s good to hear GPS has improved so much. Having GPS makes a big difference. I’ve used it on my phone to get around outside of Pattaya and all around Phuket Island. My last trip to Phuket I never lost the cell phone signal, lost 3G a few times but was always able to update my location. It really opens things up for the average person, but for a rental car I would prefer to have Garmin. It looks like
