  1. I was drawn to this post as it has a bearing on my own eye lens implant surgery. (as posted above) Your eyesight is the most precious sense you have & I can emphasise (spl) with the OP as his surgery procedure approaches. So I can understand when he comes across as a bit testy & anxious for info & not chit chat. Ive been through the worrying & fretting he has been through but now I cant wait for my second eye surgery this monday. Going by the dates it is likely 4niceight has already had his surgery & I hope everything has gone well for him. rogero
  2. These posts are so sick!!! Any more? rogero
  3. Hi everyone, I read this post a little while ago & was posed to reply but the OP seems to want all replies on his terms!! I have recently been diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes & face declining problems with my sight. I have just undergone eye surgery (on Monday afternoon) in Glasgow & was very impressed with the professional treatment I received. I flew over from Belfast early Mon AM & booked into my hotel (already paid for) & made my way to the clinic for surgery in the afternoon. A very efficient outfit with very professional staff. I filled in & verified all the forms (triple checked by each nurse!) I had a chat with the anesthetist & was fully reassured of any treatment & was well relaxed with the upcoming procedure. I had a scan in Belfast a few days previous with the info data sent to Glasgow (shape/thickness etc of eyeball ) The surgeon was brilliant by keeping me informed at all stages of the procedures. After going thru the pre-op set-up I was laid down on a gurney to receive my Morphine top up. This was Awesome. The anesthetist murmured to me "just a little prick" & I replied quite sadly yes I know!! After about 15 minutes of this (no injection in the eye) I was ready for my surgery which was carried out in another 15 min then 30 min recovery mode & made my way back to my hotel. next post - other eye hopefully sorted Have sobered up & noticed the OP specially asked for "eye surgery at PBH" so my post is pretty redundant but others may find it of interest. rogero
  4. good yarn, well told. still giggling. rogero
  5. There was a good article in the Express today (smart travel:holiday money) concerning the pros & cons of different cards etc. They mentioned Abbey were bringing back their Abbey Zero card which doesn't levy a cash advance fee or forex fee. They added : "Despite introducing a 0.84 % fee on overseas use from June (outside Europe) rising to 1.0% in July the Nationwide debit card is still the most competitive on the market even if you only use it for holiday money" rogero
  6. Hi nidnoyham Actually that "bastard" is a very dear relative of mine and I am currently trying to contact him ! He doesnt know yet I'm related to him, so some persuasion may be necessary ! (desperate times desperate measures my friends) cheers rogero
  7. Hi growler I hope I`m not too much off topic but I have both British & Irish passports (cos I can!). Are there any pros & cons regarding which to use? cheers Rogero
  8. One of the best responses to a OP I have experienced on any of the Pattaya forums & as I prepared to reply to applaud Ronrat I found there was a queue ahead of me of BMs with a similar mind. What a refreshing change from some of the moronic & attention seeking cretins who frequent this forum (I wonder who fits that profile?) This is, I think my first post here but I just enjoyed Ronrats reply so much I was forced out of my lurking mode. cheers rogero
  9. hi all loads of good info on that website. I've been considering drawdown for a while & still have a few years (less and less) before I have to commit. Re Premium Bonds, I bought £5000 a month ago & 1st draw I was eligible for, managed to win £25, hardly a fortune but with interest rates at 1.5% I was quite happy. My investment (£5000) in an Footsie tracker fund ISA @ 4000 2 months ago has managed to reach (today) £5530. I'll settle for plus 10% in 2 months anytime. Don't you just love smug B*****s like me. Serves me right if it now collapses. regards all roger
  10. Hi all Fascinating reading this thread. I will reread tomorrow when I'm less tired & emotional. Also appreciate the international viewpoints & valid statements from so many obviously fiscal competent BMs. I'm UK based (NI) & when interest rates collapsed I put a few grand into premium bonds (as much as a gamble, as it was pointless investing to get 1.5%. The next day Martin Lewis (@ moneysavingexpert.com) already linked earlier ) said it was the poorest form of investment around. I don't care, I like a thrill if there isn't any thing else around. I also put some loot into a UK ISA linked to the FT index (@4000) as the FT index cannot go lower. anyway enjoying the comments roger
