I'd rather not bother with the id check but make sure I get a room on the 1st or 2nd floor so that if I do the Farang swan dive it won't be fatal. That and anything valuable goes in the room safe.

Priceline had one on there a few weeks ago. It wasn't on the blind bid approach it was thru an area listing. It might be available, the price for that was outrageous. I don't remember the amount but I'm guessing over $3,000 US for ten days including New Years and Xmas. You can find out what the Marriott wants directly at www.Marriott.com

The Marriott. Perfect location and it was guest friendly when I was there in Nov 2003. Ask for a seaview room.

I just got my phone bill. $76 for a few short phone calls to Pattaya trying to book hotels. I could have stayed at the Marriott !

In late Novemebr I tried to book 12/21 to 12/31 and couldn't get it at the RG. I'm booked into the Jomtien Boat house since I could never get a reliable confirmation from any of the Thai managed hotels. I'm hoping some of you butterfly reservationists don't show up and I can switch into the RG. It sounds like it'd be fun if most of the guests are punters. If anybody want's to give up thier reservation for that time at the RG PM me

Thanks. The RG is full and I've spent all weekend looking for something in town. The owner, Ib, said there's an openning at The J boathouse so I'm going to book there. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't too far out. This is my second trip and one thing I wouldn't do in Pattaya is drive. Another is ride a bike.

I've seen the map but how far is it from the hotel to walking street and do bhat busses go out there from south Pattaya ?

How far is this from Walking Street ? Can I get transportation easily or is it out in the sticks.?

I stayed at the Marriott RG in Nov of 2002 and they had no problem with guests. I'd stay there again at Xmas but the holiday rates are outrageous. They have a 'compulsory' charge for New Years and Xmas dinner. It looks like they may have something special going on at that time and I'm worried that they may not be TG fiendly over this holiday.

SO am I wrong about Priceline or do you get to specify a hotel. I wouldn't use them for a flight 'cause I didn't know how long the layovers would be. Has anyone gotten the Marriott in Pattya thru Priceline ?

I just did a round trip Business Class from the US to BKK for free on Delta and Korean Air. I think that's worth it. OK, I did have to pay a $49.00 service charge.
