  1. Somebody recommended me the meal: Hummus with meat. Nothing too much to write about... The lebanese bread / pita was hot, tender... a dream. The hummus was fantastic, delicious, rich with a few drop fine olive oil.... The small lamb cubes were dry and hard, but no problem, with the hummus and the soft pita it was like a spice added a special taste. Verdict: I don’l liked at all. You may ask why ? Because it was a bad composed meal. Not a starter, not a main meal. For starter it is too much, too heavy, for a main too small, not enough. Finishing the food I felt: I’m still hungry, but can’t eat even a small sandwich, not enough hungry for that. It was like an interrupted act. Finally I bought in the Food loft 2 small grilled „ chicken on the stick” what made my stomach pleased.... A so small nuance turned the excelence to a bad order.... 210 baht + 10 baht pita. Small soda water 35 baht. Anyway... they do something wrong....Their hummus, pita, labanee is first class... the lamb sandwich was only acceptable...( not the same leauge with the Sportman's lamb kebab... the Sportmans has the crap pita, but the meat is generous and tasty... ) their main meals are high overpriced... ( OK... less, than the 4 floor competitors with the + VAT + service fee ) but still... Anyway... the most important thing is, they are simple empty... Any time I visited I was the only one customer.... despite of the great pita, hummus and labanee for fair prices.... maybe next time I will order a few pita, hummus and labanee... and I will be really happy... IF I want a vegetarian menu...
  2. The new lebanese restaurant in the Central festival.... It was a shame, the Sizzler had a waiting list to get in, many customers sitting outside to wait for their chance... ( number ) a Sunday traffic... and this restaurant was absolutely empty... I just walked around .... but looking on their menu I found someting interesting : labanee for 100 baht... Wow... One of my favourite food.... The small bottle of soda water full with lemon slices : 20 baht The labane was simple perfect, despite not the same I ate in Israel... It was simple a good food... the olive oil on the food, the veggie garnish... The lebanese bread was fresh and hot... if nothing else only this food worth to visit the place.... I never gave 10/10... but now I must to do... The delicious hot and fresh lebanese bread: 10 baht... The lamb „ sandwich „ was ok... but nothing special... Not the usual meat slivers, but the lamb cubes, just like a lamb kebab was inserted... Still a good offer for 120 baht.... Anyway... good sauces... nice all in all, but not the same lamb experience as the Sportmans lamb sandwich where I can taste the lamb ... without any sauces... ( the pork, chicken sandwiches costs 80 baht ) The complimentary tea following my menu was a nice gesture and it tasted nicely, probably not a filter tea.. Verdict: The labanee was fantastic... the lamb sandwich wasn’t.... however they have a wide offers of kebaps, lamb dishes for 200-400 baht range... I can only guess worth to try... and good location... on the songthaew route... Highly recommended...
  3. I heard lately, if I walk down from Jomtien sauna to the beach road it may worth to turn left to discover the " little Russia " restaurants... Genuine russian foods for OK prices ... Let's try... Yes, many russian theme restaurants... however the prices looked too good.. Looks like a cartel. Almost all of the restaurants with the same menu.... I choose the " Our place " because of the gushing personal messages on the wall... Good overture, without asking the complimentary ice cold refreshing towel.... The not so good following.... I asked 4 times if the borsch and the pelmeni is served with sour cream? " Khoucay mai? " The reply was positive 4 times... Just to explain to you... For the russian kitchen the sour cream is the same like for the American kitchen the ketchup... The borsch arrived without a drop of sour cream.... Full with vegetables, but very few pork meat.. Namely 2 small piece of meats... The taste of the soup was genuine.... But still poor.... The pelmeni was simple right... Too bad it was served with the borsch. It was lukewarm when I started it... The Crap salad in the middle was just a weird surprise... This food must to swim in sour cream. And the usual fraudulent thai try... Serve mayo instead of the sour cream... When I complained... A hurry " solly, solly " reply...and a cup arrived with the proper sour cream. Verdict: I was happy to taste the genuine russian tastes..but it was a Crap... I will be not back... Borsch: 79 baht Pelmeni: 100 baht Small soda water: 35 baht

  4. And you are the only person " who could turn a straightforward food review " into a PC rant... What next? The muslim hordes are welcomed in the UK ? ( Yep... I'm not PC at all... I say as I think ... ) How to know ? The many he he and ha ha and showing pictures on their phones....I may be ignored, but not blind...
  5. I wanted to try the Santa Fe 179 baht T-Bone steak... I was sitting alone cca 20 minutes without any attention and stared the only one waitress whoo looked to work, flirting and watching the photos on the phones of the jap tourist group... the rest of the waiters / waitresses just sauntered around... Enough is enough... walked out. A fast solution, I late the movie... So the Sizzler... Nothing new, I like their salad bar, I just share what I had. Spicy sour soup. Nothing special, little spicy, little sour with some tofu and mushroom pieces. Plate 1. Pork salad, a really delicious tomato salad, caesar salad with my favourite crutons, quail eggs. Plate 2. Carrot / mint salad, steamed veggies under blue cheese dressing, crab imitation salad.. all the plate sprinkled with cheese and sunflower seeds. Dessert: Chockolate mousse and jelly. I liked it, anyway too few veggies I eat here in Pattaya. 169 baht PS: Not my day, ran from the Central festival to the Avenue, full in sweat... but in time. I buy the ticket, the fanta... and the ticket controller guy just grin: „ Movie talk thai „ For my biggest surprise they returned my money without a word and I received a free 100 baht coupon for the next time as an apology....
  6. Chicken tikka + beer menu for 199 baht I still can’t understand why some restaurants wants to sell their food with beer, but at least I can change the beer to soda. And yes, small gesture, but I really appreciate... big bottle of soda. For my surprise the complimentary papadam ( now I know what is it grin hangulatjel ) arrived very soon with the sensational sauces. I never tried it yet , so I googled what to await.... but so many different recipes, photos... it was still a big question for me what will be arrive... The pulao rice, just like the last time... huge portion and the tikka was made from chicken breast. A little bit I lost my mood, because I don’t really like the grilled chicken breast... usually it is too dry for my taste. And it was really grilled on the sticks, the small wholes on the middle of the meat pieces proved it. The taste of the chicken tikka was perfect for me ( I can’t compare, as I wrote, never tried yet... but I liked it very much. ) and for my surprise it wasn’t dry, but soft and friable... Ok, I know it wasn’t probably a proper step, but dropped some spicy mint sauce on the rice... and then the taste orgy... also tried it with the red sauce and I liked both, dramatically different taste effect, so one bite with red sauce, one bite with the spicy mint sauce... when the meat finished I had a few more bites, just the rice and the sauces.....being more brave, winkled out the purple onion pieces from the third sauce, and voila a good „ salad garnish „ for the meal. The portion at this time was edible, however some rice left in the bowl. Verdict: I liked it very much... Very good value if you choose the beer option, but still OK with my soda. PS: Sorry because of the colors... my camera sometimes become berserk when too much red color in the picture
  7. I was curious about a swedish all you can eat buffet, just because in Hungary and in Russia we call the all you can eat buffets : Swedish table... The Akvavit is a well advertised, not cheap restaurant, so I sniffed the deal for 335 baht including a beer or a drink. A promising overture: Big bottle of soda, small gesture, but I really appreciate it. The starters: Fresh and soft white bread as I like it. Correct, but nothing special potato salad. Swedish egg... an interesting concept, a little bit similar with the devil’s egg, but a lazier version... anyway it was fine. Delicious easter ham, it was just perfect, obviously not the usual glued meat. The mixed salad was OK, just missed the dressing. ( I found later a few mayo based dressing in the other side of the restaurant, whilst collecting the mains, but sorry, I already finished my salad ) Tomato salad, which was OK and tasty. The mains: The mashed potato was OK, I think made from powder, but nothing bad I like the mash from powder. The rice was tired, many dried, hard pieces. The chicken curry was really good, tasty sauce tender chicken. The swedish food was an interesting concept, potato sausages and a slightly smoked aroma... I liked it. The beetroot was almost perfect ( not the hard version you can buy canned in Pattaya ) I just missed a little horseradish, but this is a hungarian thing, not a swedish. The buffalo chicken wings were OK, but again, nothing special... but fundamentally cicken wings are not my favourite meal... so, in this case the nothing special means it was good. The tzatziki must be a swedish version, not the greek original... it was tasteless and heavy probably from the mayo. Cole slaw was OK, but again a little bit heavy, too many mayo for my taste. Pork loan in wine sause. The biggest disappointment... it smelled promising, mouthwatering... the sauce was fine and tasty, but the meat was chewy and so dry it was hard to swallow... Swedish meatballs. Again, a fine sauce with pure meat balls, but still dry meat for my taste. The pork rib was good by the taste, but again the meat is dry... ( true, there were also soft and juicy pieces ) Added some mustard and with it it was OK. As you can see, this lunch doesn’t woke up any emotional buzz in me....It wasn’t so bad, but also wasn”t good... Verdict: For 235 baht it would be a choice.
  8. I worry the same.... However dealing with the restaurants before to visit them is easier, than with the GOGO bars... At least you can see the restaurant's menu, not only the cheap beer offers... and the rest is hidden... like in the GOGO bars nowadays... In the good old days there were only one barfine prices and written on the wall....Before the GOGO bar scene wasn't a fraudulent highway robbery... And anyway... why not to try an interesting offer from an indian restaurant for the price of two ( or less ) ladydrinks ? ( Please compare the the two services )

    Bite Me!

You are right... But no any sausages must be looking like a dried, tired human limp dick...for premium prices.... even a cheap hot dog sausage in the 7/11 for 10 baht may look like a perky dick...
  10. Thanx... but for 380 baht a not british " chank "... thank you... not... however I'm still in the search....
  11. Some thoughts about the oysters... many years ago in a 5+ star french restaurant in Paris the guy invited us for the dinner offered me as the star of the 8 floor sea food plate including the fine french crabs, moules in garlic sauce, fish filets, lobsters etc... the fine french oysters... they were still living, dropping the lemon juice they still moved... I tried only one and swore for myself: I will never eat the same mucus in my life... However some girls encouraged me to try the thai version: with the spicy sauce and the fried onion pieces.... and it became one of my favourite... I still eat it on the beach ... 50 baht a dozen...
  12. I liked the indian foods I ate before, but really not an expert, I don’t even know how to order, what combinations are the right... so maybe now, a set menu. Good prices ( I never understood, why the indian food is relatively so expensive in Thailand ) looks exotic... I choose the menu number 2... The first and pleasant surprise: Big bottle soda water, not the usual small one. ( 30 baht ) Maybe a small gesture, but I really appreciated it. Also a nice gesture, the waitress asked me if I want the Chicken madras spicy, medium or not spicy. Some modest crispy thing arrived... without instructions, so I tried the sauces with it. A green spicy sauce ( the waitress told me „ mint sauce „ was simple phenomenal, but not reminded me at all to the mint sauce as I know it. The red sauce was sweet and fine, the third sauce... it was some kind of oil with purple onion pieces, but I can’t figure out, how to use... And then a huge portion food... The Chicken madras was medium spicy as I asked it, tasty thick curry sauce with chicken breast pieces... it was so thick, following a few bites I felt, my belly is filling with extra speed. The fried onion food was an interesting concept, but a little bit tasteless... no problems, a nice bed for the sauces.... The pulao rice was very good, only a light taste, the Chapati was fresh and tender... And again my dilemma, how to combine the foods ? I decided to eat the Chicken madras with the rice, the Chapati ( with green sauce ) with the onion food ( with red sauce ) . All in all I was in the shame at the end of the lunch... I ate the whole portion of the Chicken madras, but only the half Chapati, the 25% of the rice and the 50% of the onion food... and I felt, I can’t move, so full... Next time the Special Tikka menu .... ( Can change the beer to soda water ) Verdict: Highly recommended from a NOT expert about the indian food.

I'm sorry to say, but those so called sausages looks like cooked human limp dicks...maybe shriveled hot dog sausages... Where I come from a sausage looks like this: Pure meet inside, not only the meat foam, looks anyway tired...
  14. The lamb kebab döner I wanted something lamb and remember some lamb shank in the Sportmans... Sadly, it seems it was only a special. But hey... a promotional offer on the table: The lamb kebab döner... Ok let’s try it. The meal was a good portion, generous portion lamb meat with very fresh salad items. ( I must to mention the fresh onion slices with hard smell, rarely meet in Pattaya. In Hungary we cry when slice the onions ) And again, two kind of sauces I didn’t knew how to use – ok, I know, my ignorance – I just guessed, the white sauce was for the salad part, the red one for the meat... The sauces were fine and tasty... but... BUT... I had a bite of sauceless part of the döner and decided so, no any sauces needed... The meat was juicy and tasty, I tasted the lamb. Anyway I wanted lamb, not sauces. Usually I don’t like the döners in Pattaya, because they made from tasteless chicken or pork and the sauces dominates the döners. ( And in Pattaya usually crap sauces ) So the rest of the döner was eaten without any sauces and it was good, exactly what I wanted. The negative: The pita was light and I liked it, not the usual heavy dough..... But maybe too light, at the beginning it was bake away... also the open style not for my taste, I like more the wrapped ones... Explain why... döners, kebaps, shwarma you call it as you want are ancient „ peasant food „ and it is always a „ eat with your hands „ food... When the sauces already dropped down from my elbow I gave up and finished my meal in civilised mode with the fork and knive... Anyway, I used the half of the napkins to clean myself... The döner was 178 baht ( remember, it was lamb ) and if you wants the side french fries 50 baht Verdict: It was good, I had what I wanted in good quality... if I like to eat in neanderthal style it is my own problem...

    Bite Me!

One day I will... but too bad location for me...the pork belly offer looks promising... ( the meat I miss on the Pattaya ribs ) See my report about the Pastrami on Rye.... fries included, but not needed...the cole slaw was a better choice... TRUE, I must to admit, this is a lamb burger, not a beef burger... lamb is really expensive in Thailand... The Cordon Bleu was just enough ... with a Cornetto ice cream I bought in a 7/11 for 25 baht.... Sorry... I simple like the Cornetto Royale... chocolat ice cream with the fruity jelly in the middle... I have small hands, the size of the thai girls... but I think this burger would fit between my two fingers... I go to a restaurant to eat, not to mental wank...to fill my belly with quality food.... not with the side garbage...In thailand the desserts are simply crap.... a Cornetto is the best choice... or the best one a Swensen's ice cream cup...

You know very well I paid my own bill and doubled it with my donation for the reason the restaurant owner spent it....
  20. I saw the many positive reports about the venue, so decided to try it, despite of my gourmet friend’s warn, he tried the restaurant twice and don’t liked it. Let see the truth.... My choice was the Philly Cheese steak .... The sandwich looked really nice, the meat looked generous portion. But hey, where is the cheese from the cheese steak sandwich ? Is the liquid cheese sauce awarded the name sheese steak ? It seems it was the deal. The bun was soft and fine, but not the meat... it was hard and chewy... and not so generous as the first sight, one side of the sandwich was full with meat, the inner side less and none at the end of the bun. The taste of the sandwich was simple poor, the chewy meat wasn’t juicy at all, better to say it was simple dry. A big disappointment in this price range... in any price range. My friend’s choice was the Classic cheeseburger. It looked great, a huge patty and not missed the cheese. The patty was juicy and tasty, he simple falled in love with this burger. I tried a bite and agree with him. The french fries were fresh and crispy, well worth the price.... with the Eatigo 30% discount. The marinated pickle was added to both plates, was simple excellent a very nice idea, made more exciting the tastes. Soft drinks: 45 Water, soda 35 baht. On the next day, the second try... My friend don’t wanted to experiment, he ordered what once was so good: Classic cheeseburger... what was again very good quality and tasty. Today we decided to ask for the side dish the Cole slaw... It was crispy and tasty, however for me a bit rich with mayo. My choice was the Meat ball sub... How to name this meal ? A foodie nuclear bomb... It was simple heavy when I took it into my hand.... Full, with material... Tasty, tender and juicy meat balls, plenty of the marinara sauce with fine herbs, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese... a taste orgy... in a good meaning... Following the victory over this meal ( I almost can’t finish it... it was a battle ) hard to move, hard to thinking...let the photos talk.... The melted mozzarella on the end of the sub just over flowed... Verdict: Very good... time to get some rest around the pool....

    Bite Me!

The burger looks like a microscopic portion... maybe 1.4 bite...just like the strawberry cake... maybe a dinner for a somalian refugee, but not a meal for a farang...
  23. Why not to try the La Bocca pizzeria next to my condo ?? The offer is the pizza buffet + one drink ( beer or soda pop ) for 250 baht The italian waiter explained the offer: They will serve pizzas by slices and I can't choose what kind of pizzas... OK, let's try... I was with a buddy, we don't finished our talk, but I was too hungry to wait for it... so he accompanied me, but not wanted to eat... I told to the italian waiter: I want the buffet, my buddy wants a coke... It was a rude gesture: he warned me, I can't share my pizza with my buddy... Yes I know... not a chimp... Ok we were under dressed, just run out from the pool area in our t-shirts and swim suits... but anyway.... My water and my buddie's Coke Light arrived warm, the two piece of ice cubes in the glass don't helped too much, so we had to ask for more ice cubes.... Finally not slices, but a whole pizza arrived... with 8 slice with different toppings... pepperoni, hawaii ( ham and pineapple ) ham, mint and spinach, margarita, bolognese, mushroom with ham and mushroom with olives... The pizza was good for my taste, thin and crispy, However, the toppings were quality material, but frugal...the cheese was OK... the portion and the quality... ( I cook my spaghetti with 100 gram cheese / portion ) As an indicator, the mushroom was fresh ( not canned ) but the thai version, not the champion... But no any differences, it was good...tasted similar... Still an open questinon: What if I want more pizza ? It was enough for me, but what, if not ??? Check bin time...We ordered two items, but the bill was long.... My buddie's Coke Light was alone 75 baht, ( almost WS GOGO bar prices ) and the final bill was 345 baht following the service fees, VAT etc.... The original menu prices shows a pizza costs 300-400 baht... plus your drinks...and the service, VAT scam... I enjoyed my 8 item pizza offered only daytime, but I would never visit the place at the dinner time....No wonder... I was the only one customer in the venue...
  24. First of all I must to admit, I’m not a pie expert... not at all, I ate this kind of meal first time in my life. I never felt the need to try this food because of the appearance. However I decided to stop to experimenting with newly found meals ( an other report soon ) and listen the posters in this group. The pies still looked somehow smallish for me, but let’s make the blind date... Chicken mornay pie ( 135 baht ) + salad to have something fresh on my plate ( 50 baht ) My friend ordered a chicken moshroom pie ( 135 baht ) + salad and french fries combo ( 70 baht ) ... as you see, the generous portion of the fries were only 20 baht extra on top of the salad, really reasonable price. I must to say, the pies may look small, but they aren’t with the filling. Following the meal I was full and I missed my usual dessert... ( I could’t eat it all with the french fries ) My Chicken mornay pie was simple delicious, the inside chicken in the sauce was perfect. However I don’t know one thing ( remember, my first encounter with an Australian pie ) the dough seemed me too dry, see the amount of the crumbs left on my plate ... Either my pie was dry, either I can’t eat properly a pie... on my friend’s plate wasn’t a simple crumb when he finished his meal. BTW he liked very much his Chicken, mushroom pie. The salad was nicely created, on the bottom some tasty mayo type dressing and separately served a vinegar, oil based topping, which was also delicious and the combination of the tastes were perfect. The french fries were freshly made and crispy, a fine item... but this fact resulted a major fault... When my plate was ready it was served to me, whilst my friend’s plate arrived with the freshly made french fries when I almost finished my meal. Soda water: 30 baht Verdict: Worth a try, I’m sure I will be back to try some other pies, I liked the place. My friend’s opinion: Good food and not expensive. ( IMO a bit pricey, but worth to try it )
  25. Jomtien Plaza... again... I start with the moral of the story: If you find a good food in a relative cheap restaurant, stick to this food and don’t experiment if you are not in explorer mood. For me Boat bakery means beef noodle soup, Jomtien Plaza means cordon bleu... The Jomtien pizza.. for the forst sight it was ok... for the first bite it was a nightmare. It wasn’t a pizza and hard to explain what it was. The topping was tasty and enough, ( tuna, bell pepper, sauce ) including the cheese, it was done nicely... BUT... the dough was someting like a piece of fresh TESCO brad, the topping was hot, the dough was cold. I just guess a deep frozen pizza with the restaurant’s toppings, heated obviously from upside only. Verdict: If I’m not so hungry ( waited 30 minutes for this ) I would order a cordon bleu, what my friend ordered and I looked on his meal jealously... the 150 baht for this creature was a highway robbery...
