  1. Hi, This guy seems to have good contacts in Spurs. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/10521678/Tottenham-chairman-Daniel-Levy-and-manager-Andre-Villas-Boas-had-become-distant.html Quickly the decision was taken to reconvene yesterday morning and, shortly after 10am, Villas-Boas and Levy decided that the time was right for the head coach to go. Technically he was not sacked and, in truth, the sense around Villas-Boas was that he wanted to go and was relieved it was over. He and Levy have never been, according to a source close to the Portuguese, a “dynamic duo”. By the end the relationship between the pair was ever more remote; it was not a meeting of minds. That relationship had started awkwardly with the sale of Luka Modric in the summer of 2012 and the failure to sign Joao Moutinho at the 11th hour as his replacement – after apparently haggling over €500,000 on a €31 million (£26  million) bid – and it rarely improved after that. Villas-Boas lost Modric one summer, Gareth Bale the next – even if £107  million was spent following the latter’s departure. He had called for evolution; he got revolution.
  2. Hi, I've been disappointed with his work at Spurs. Maybe back to Portugal, a richer and sadder person ?
  3. Hi, AVB has been sacked! Feel sorry for Steve Clarke, WBA got some bad decisions from the refs. Liverpool were in great form yesterday. Suarez is great to watch. From an England point of view I thought Welbeck and Henderson looked up to International class yesterday.
  4. Hi, Bailed out at half time in the Villa v Man Utd game. Only looks to be one result there.
  5. Hi, Fair assesment. Man Utd are likely to get a winnable tie in the CL. If they get into the last 8/4 of that it will paper over the cracks to some extent. Not having a bet on Spurs v Liverpool but with Spurs at home they must win especially with Stevie G and Sturrridge out for Liverpool.
  6. Hi, We both thought City would win but I dont think Arsenal were thrashed as the BBC seems to be saying. Arsenal got 2 good goals disallowed at critical times. There was nothing made of it by the talking heads on MOTD but if the red shirts had been Uniteds the sport bulletins on Radio 5 would have led with something like " Man Utd denied 2 good goals by diabolic decisions by linesmen". In the first half the other linesman wrongly flagged for off side when Arsenal were attacking in dangerous situations. I watched the game in a pub where the sound was off so I dont know if the BT guys said anything about it. They usually dont when its Arsenal on the wrong end of bad offside/penalty decisions. Everton will give it a good go this season after another good performance. Mourinho seems out of sorts at Chelsea, he has dark rings under his eyes. I feel he is under pressure in some facet of his life and he is not getting the best out of several Chelsea players who were great last season like Mata and Luiz. Man City have great physical presence as well as great technique so they will be hard to beat now. Pellegrini has achieved his first task this year, getting City into the last 16 in the CL so can know focus on the Prem. They look the best team by far so Arsenal put up a good show yesterday.
  7. Hi, One of the 3 main games IMO. Spurs v Liverpool is the other cracker. The other games are mainly relegation battles. Pardew is motiviated to get one over Southampton who have had a bad run recently. I'd be tempted to have a small bet on Southampton on the Asian Handicap.
  8. Hi, Man City have an advantage of 24 hours rest in the game against Arsenal tomorrow. It's unfair on Arsenal and the other teams in contention for the Prem. Still City had a good win during the week and are hard to beat at home. Looks 3 points for them I'm afraid.
  9. Hi, Everton play even better at Arsenal to win a well deserved point. The most improved team in the Prem this year IMO. Fulham have a great win against Villa. Maybe that Dutch guy can get Berbatov playing again, he has experience of working with him at Man Utd.
  10. Hi, I think Fergie knew that it was going to take years to sort the team out and felt he didn't have the time. Moyes knows this as well and I'll be surprised if he isin't given 3 years to get rid of the old stagers and the players who are not good enough. I'm sure Moyes knew what he was getting into, but it's a plum job so he is prepared to take the flak.
  11. Hi, Liverpool and Newcastle have a clear run in the NY while the other teams are engaged in Europe. Gives them a chance though some of the teams have a stronger bench.
  12. Hi, Great win for Stoke. Mourinho looks a different man after his failure at Real. Chelsea played a better style of football under Rafa. Great win for Palace as well, Chamakh is looking like the player Wenger thought he was when he brought him from France. Hooper is looking good at last for Norwich as well. These centre forwards seem to be brittle individuals who play on confidence. Suarez continues to shine, well worth the fee to see him in action. Man City show a bit of bottle to get a point at Southampton and of course Newcastle win for the first time in ages at Old Trafford. I think it will take Moyes a few years to sort it out at Man Utd. They could go into a decline like after Busby if they are not careful. It's happened to Liverpool as well but they are coming back now.
  13. Hi, Suarez put on a great show the other night, I can't see him staying at Liverpool much longer. My favourit team, Everton, come to Arsenal tomorrow. Us gooners will be hoping they find it hard to reproduce their OT form twice in a row. No bets for me on this one as I never back or back against Arsenal.
  14. Hi, Great away win for Everton against Man Utd. Martinez's signings have improved the team. Man Utd need to buy some midfield talent in the window. Arsenal win to 0, which is encouraging for gooners as City and Chelsea are conceding plenty of goals at the moment.
  15. Hi, I'n not one of his fans but it would be a great effort from Pulis if he can keep Palace up. Everton travel to Old Trafford tonight and although United have dropped 4 points on the road recently this is a tough game for Everton. The other game which catches the eye is Stoke v Cardiff. Cardiff have done well at home, but are struggling away from Cardiff and this is a must win for both teams.
  16. Hi, Good post.
  17. Hi, I think the only way it will be taken out of the game is red cards. I dont care what team is involved I dont like it. It was a foreign problem in the past but English players are just as "good" at it now as anyone.
  18. Hi, I thought Welbeck put his trailing leg into Lloris to get the penalty for Man Utd. Nothing about it in the media, if that was Suarez the cheating foreigner card would be played. IMO Welbeck is a chating toerag.
  19. Hi, Yeah, great win for Arsenal as the other top teams have found Cardiff a difficult venue. Mesut Ozil and Quade Cooper in town on the same day, Cardiff was the place to be yesterday. Everton looked good against Stoke as well with the young Barcelona player looking outstanding. Jol looks toast at Fulham and AVB is under pressure at Spurs. I'm glad Norwich won yesterday as Hughton seems a nice guy and I hope he can keep his job.
  20. Hi, Man Utd had a great win in Germany during the week so must come into the game against Spurs full of confidence. AVB is getting some stick in the media and from the Spurs fans. I'm having a small bet on the AH on Spurs. They have a terrible record against MU but I'm a gambler.
  21. Hi, I was wondering why Bayern were such strong favs. Dortmund were several defenders short.
  22. Hi, In London the young people (18-30) use a card even to buy a pint of beer. Maybe it's an age thing ? I always carry cash.
  23. What a great perfomance by City. Spurs have conceded few goals this season so to put 6 past them is awesome. Cardiff get a great point against United, they look a good bet to stay up. United are 8/1 to win the Prem, bookies don't fancy them.
  24. Hi, Chelsea have an excellent away win and are starting to look like they are getting things together. Arsenal overcome a difficult opponent with the help of rival keeper. Stoke and Swansea get much needed wins. Great away win for Palace. Can Pulis save them ? Everton are denied in the last minute of the derby. Liverpools keeper is man of the match which means I think Everton were unlucky not to get the 3 points. Great game.
