  17. This is a cut and paste from the members FAQ section, written by PattayaPete: Songkran is the Thai New Year. It is celebrated throughout Thailand and is particulary vigourous in Pattaya and Chiang Mai. The official dates are 13 and 14 April. These are a national holidays. Pattaya has a week long festival starting on the 13th and finishing on the 19th. As the week progresses the celebrations get more and more vigourous with the last day being biggest by far. The catch with Songkran is that the traditional way to celebrate was to sprinkle water on other people. This has now denigrated into all out water fights. Some people join in and have a lot of fun, while others try to avoid the mayhem but tend to get drenched anyway. If you want to see what it is like, download the Songkran video in the FLB Videos section. Not for everyone but there is lots of fun to be had if you join in.
  18. Hey Jimmybb, I inquired about reservations there, their response was they had "small rooms" for 390bt / night. After doing some reading, I figured out that those were the ST rooms. I dont want to sleep in (ok you get the idea). Check the great hotel review pages that Pete made and choose from the pattaya / 1000 or less per night area. I am choosing the bay breeze or some other one. M_H
  19. I read the letter http://www.pattayamail.com/current/letters.shtml#hd2 On my first trip I was armed with the knowledge from this board on #1 where to go, and #2 where not to go. Oceanside of beach road, and the pier. And just by checking it out, I could see why. I had a Thai girl that wanted to "sit by the sea" I told her its not a good idea. She looked around for a minute (daytime) and agreed, she said thai man want steal you baht chain, lets go. She said how about walk the pier? I said its more dangerous there. We walked by it and didnt venture on it, and she said you right, ladyman want rob us. The information that is read from this board is very helpful to the first time visitor, without it I would of probally gotten robbed too. M_H

  22. I stayed at the penthouse, it had a shower the size for 2, good luck getting a Tg to shower with you, the ones I had liked to do their own thing solo, which probally includes douching. My room was $40.00 a night M_H
  23. Hi, you can check out the hotel reviews at the top of the page to read about your hotel. There is a section that will help you choose by how much it costs in baht. I would book a reservation as soon as possible, due to it being the high season. M_H
