Sheraton Hotel in South Pattaya
torrenova replied to ton1298's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
You'd have to hire a baht bus or get a bike as it is not on the normal route. I wouldn't have thought there would be joiner fees. Rooms will surely be on key card so just walk up. -
I have a friend stays there 4 or 5 times a year and one girl is ok more than one, they want somewhere around Bt900. You don't have to pay it really but it is to discourage serious P4P activities. Overnight guest does not have to be registered.

Have a look here to get some idea: http://pattaya.sawadee.com/hotels/index.html http://www.hotelthailand.com/pattaya/pattaya.html http://www.asiatravel.com/pattaya.html http://r24.org/ethailand.com/pattaya There are loads out there but this should set you on the way.
-
Because it is worth it. You don't 5* quality for bargain basement prices but you'd have had to stay in a 5* place to appreciate what you get.
-
What agent do you use and what rates can you get ?
-
Just get one of those shit airlines which fly via some unpronouncable place for a fraction of the cost a first rate airline charges. Of course, you may not arrive or return but when you hit the mountain at 600mph you have the comfort of knowing that the first and business class bastards died first !

Of course the cheap charlies need a motorbike, no way they will pay the Bt30 or so to get up to Soi Buakhow. The question is whether they will pay to rent a bike. At circa 3k per month, that would be about the same as the stipend they give their live ins.

Apply to the Thai consulate in Hull for a multiple entry non immigrant "O" visa. That will give you 90 days each time you come in / cross the border. You can extend each one for another 30 days at immigration for Bt1900. If you want to stay 6 months, spend the first week or two in an hotel and look around for a condo. Working requires a permit and i cannot guarantee that you will be able to get one even after training, or even a job for that matter. If you're on the Nanaplaza board, PM Limbo as I think he's in that game in Samui.

Long term rental in View Talay 2 (the newer one) can be had for Bt10-12k plus utilities for a studio and from Bt14-16k for a one bed. Sure you can pay more but why ? I live on the top floor of View Talay 2 and know rentals in this range. Agents are fuckwits and want loads of commission. Pattaya Properties and Fair View or whatever are the worst, valuing a Bt10k condo for Bt18k or similar. I may be able to put you in touch with someone if you need for VT2. Send me a PM if you are interested.

Looked at a few condos about a year ago and thought they were overpriced and in need of renovation. Haven't seen the hotel rooms though which are a different concern. Ask them to email you some pictures.

By the way, the marriott website is NOT intelligent. By this I mean the following: If the weekend has a Visa package for say $100 per day including breakfast but you want to stay 4 days, it may say that the rate will change from the weekend rate to the daily weekday rate but it will not offer the discounted Visa rate. Its a bit of a fuck on for a long stay but you might want to start out checking the weekends. Put the data in Excel and then do the weekdays and total stay. then phone Marriott reservations (usually very helpful) and if they cannot beat the dea, state that certain offers
-
Yes, the wonder of the telephone, followed by confirmation. I'd have some back up plans in place though as I reckon you'll come up short.
-
Why not just phone them up ?
-
What do you expect, he supports Sunderland !

Lets get this right once and for all. There are no joiner fees. You pay for a room, not per person. The Marriott is great and if your budget allows I'd stay there. Breakfast is top notch but pricy if not included (circa Bt650++ each per day). The pool is great and just remoddled. I'd try to get it included. If not a member already, join their club www.marriott.com

long stay in Pattaya.
torrenova replied to lancashirelad1's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Not necesarily. I'd move into a cheap hotel for a few weeks until you know where you want to live. Then rent a condo. You can get into View Talay 1 for that money, about Bt8k per month for a studio. In town, you can live in Yensabai, maybe even Centre Condo. Moving out to Soi Buakhow will yield a condo for around Bt5k per month. -
Indian Restaurants in Patters

Don't use the Raj or the delivery one advertising in the condos in Jomtien. Both are complete shit. -
bangkok pattaya hospital

If ill, stay in the condo. Tiffy pilly and some sleep. Plenty of water. If you need food but have none, then order in. No great shakes for minor shit. I did stay one day in the memorial a couple of years ago. Great, own room, football on the telly and a drip in my arm. Total about Bt3500 or so. -
As many know, I live in Pattaya. I have business interests which provide a healthly income plus interests outside Thailand. I would not consider trying to live here on Bt20,000 per month. If you knew Thailand, I think you would already know the answer to some of your questions. So I ask, why choose Thailand ? You have mentioned nothing about why you want to come here so I can only assume that you have heard favourable comments about the attractions here which is somewhat supported by the fact that you have joined a Pattaya web board. Maybe you don't get laid at home and think you can g

Get a non immigrant "O" or "B" visa. You get 90 days which you can extend by another 30 for BT1900 at Soi 8 (moving to Jomtien - when ?). So, if you go out every 90 days, you can get 16 months if you go just before your last expiry and then extend. Cost, GBP 90 plus 4 * cost to border plus 1 * Bt1900 per 16 months. Oh, by the way, your tourist stamp is 30 days. The reason people get caught out is that they may land on 17th and think the month is 30 days. Then they realise the month has 31 days and they are not leaving until 01:00 the following morning. No-one gets 28 days. Ozzies now g

Buying PC stuff in Thailand
torrenova replied to neil324's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Buy where you live and buy a reputable make. Most of the deals in LOS are self build. How the fuck does some guy in a shed know more about what works best with what than Sony, HP, Compaq, IBM etc. who invest USD billions ? They don't is the answer and i couldn't tell one motherboard from another. -
No. If you read the sticker in the bus, the maximum fare is not over Bt10 per person no matter how far you go. It is true however that very few drivers will go from Jomtien to Naklua but the principle remains the same. In fact, you could be asked / or pay less than Bt10.
-
I think Tonys is Bt99 per day, up to about Bt999 per month. that is on 3rd Road.

Thai business sucks - as does their equivalent of "first" class !
