Hi there... I think it depends on whether they are the "real" thing or knock-offs. If they are knock-offs you should be careful. Even though the cheap prices are attractive, remember...you get what you pay for. Alot of times, the materials used to make the knock-offs are not that good and the clubs won't last very long and the club's performance is not that great. Now.....if you can find the 'real' thing at lower prices, then that would be worth it. Get as much information as you can (prices, etc...) in your country BEFORE going to Thailand and then compare the prices. I have been in the golf business for 10 years so personally, I would not waste my money on knock-offs. It's worth it to spend a little more and have the clubs last longer as well as getting better performance from them. Hope this helps..... Cheers......gp [smiley=cheers.gif]

Laem Chabang used to have a shuttle service from Diana Inn but when I was there in September 2003, it was no longer available. > > I ended up hiring a private driver. He would wait in the parking lot until I was finished and then take me back to Pattaya. If you find something......please post it. Cheers......gp [smiley=cheers.gif]

pat809.... I received the travel bag from the Taylor Made sales rep. in Canada. I am not sure if they are for sale anywhere or not. It's black with brown trim and has 2 big pockets on the front. It also has wheels as well as a carry strap. The back is not like a hard case, but it is hard enough plastic to protect the bag. It also has padding at the top to protect the clubs. I have never been a fan of the big plastic cases. As jimmybcool said......if they are too big, they don't fit in the car. Just my thoughts..... Cheers.......gp [smiley=cheers.gif]

Hey Blazer.... My travel case has a hard back and a soft front with a zipper running the entire length. It also has wheels so you can pull it instead of trying to carry it. On any of my trips I just take my travel bag and put EVERYTHING in it.......clubs, shoes, clothes, etc....and it works great. I will also take a small carry-on bag on the plane. If your golf travel bag is big enough, there is no need to take a suitcase. Also, make sure you put little pad locks on the the zippers.......you never know who's looking in the bag. Hope it helps....have a great time!! Cheers........gp [smiley=cheers.gif]

Your best Golf Courses near Pattaya Poll?
gp2002 replied to duece's topic in RideHer Cup Planning and Discussion
I have only played 3 courses on my two visits.......Laem Chabang, Phoenix and Burapha. I fell in love with LC from the first day I played it.......actually, I think it was caddie I fell in love with!! She is awesome (more on her in the BEST CADDIE post) Seriously, ff29 described it perfectly. I don't think I can add anymore to his description. Obviously, the best time to play there is on a Sports Day as it is the most expensive. When I played on the Sports Days the course was still deserted!! I really enjoyed Burapha. They have 36 holes but I only played one of the 18's. The course was in good condition and playing on their Sports Day is a huge bargain.......500 baht all day!! The greens were a little slower but I think that was because I was used to the greens at LC. Finally, Phoenix. To be honest I really do not like the course or the conditions. Being a single player, they did not make much of an effort to join me with another group even though I saw other twosomes and threesomes on the course. For the guys that have played Natural Park Hills, Natural Park Resort and Khao Kheow ..........how long does it take to get to these courses from Pattaya?? I really want to put these on my "to play" list during my next visit. Cheers.......gp [smiley=cheers.gif] -
I stayed at the one in Bangkok and things were okay. I paid for 900 baht for the Superior room, I believe. They included a breakfast and a free drink coupon. The room was a good size and it was clean. The only thing....it was a long hike to Suhkumvit but it was pretty close to Nana Plaza. I am not sure about ones in Pattaya, but if they are clean and the rooms are decent, you can't beat the price. Cheers....gp

ff29... Thanks for the tip. I will read through it and see how it goes. Cheers!!

Just to add to my earlier post..... On my last day, my favorite caddie (269) at Laem Chabang gave me pair of handmade head covers for my Driver and 3 wood. I couldn't believe it. She is such a sweetheart!!! Believe it or not, she is what I miss MOST about Thailand!! I wanted to bring her home with me. Here she is......the reason I go to Thailand!! Cheers!! gp

I like this idea..... I have only played Laem Chabang the 2 times I've been here and I get the same caddie everytime......#269 (Makkala). She is terrific. She is very, very smart, happy, funny and has a great smile. She actually remembered what holes I took pictures of when I was there last year!! She also has a couple of friends that work there and they are also fun to be around. I am not sure of their numbers.....when I get them I will post them. I plan on playing a different course tomorrow so I'll see how it goes. Cheers....Doug

KJ... Buckeye is exactly right.....if the shaft is still in good condition, a pro shop should have no problem using epoxy to put it together. I used to do many of these repairs at the golf course I worked at (golf pro by trade). Any more problems....just ask. Cheers!! gp2002

Thanks Griffo.... What time do things get going?? Cheers!!

Does anyone know if the Thai Limosine service takes the toll roads or is best to just book Alex?? I've never gone to Pattaya straight from the airport before, that's why I ask. Cheers!!

Blazer... I forgot to mention......the Sports Day promotion is only good until the end of October because November is the start of the High Season..... It will start again in May. Cheers!!! gp2002

Blazer... I played at Laem Chabang last year and I will again this year.....in fact, starting on Sept. 12th!! Every Tuesday and Friday they have Sports Day....the green fees are 750 baht/person unlimited golf. On Sunday after 13:00 pm. the green fee is 900 baht. This is a Jack Nicklaus design and has 27 holes. The caddies are pleasant, knowledgeable and cute!! You HAVE to take cart (don't think you want to walk anyway)which is 600 baht and the caddie fee is 200 baht. Their regular price, I believe was 1500 baht during the week and then 2500 on the weekends. Considering it's a Nicklaus course 1500 is not bad....2500 is starting to get up there. I also played Phoenix but I wasn't really impressed with it. It's condition wasn't that great (in my opinion) and the green fee was similar to Laem Chabang. I may try and check out a couple different courses this time around, but I was very happy with L.C. Oh, by the way.......they provide locker and towel (unlike courses in Canada and the USA) so bring a change of clothes because it's frickin' hot!! I hope this helps a little and remember......"tee it high and let it fly"!! Have fun gp2002........6 days to go!!!!!

Hey Dourden.... Maybe we can hook up at the FLB......I never made there on my last visit so I am looking forward to it. Hopefully we can tip a few back.... Cheers... DL [smiley=cheers.gif] [smiley=cheers.gif] [smiley=beer.gif]
